![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New X5 E70 spy pics - part 4 (pic without camo inside!) Ahhhhhhh... The headlights are going to take some getting used to. My gut tells me that the E70 "Has big eyes because it's alarmed by something." Do any of you get what I'm saying? It's the kind of look an animal would get on its face while fighting for survival... like this X5 just got a rush of adrenaline or something. I'm sure more photos will smooth out my gut reaction. Come think - do any of you guys see a touch of E39 5er in these headlights? |

Man Osna you hit the nail on the head, although I don't see the 5er dna there. I don't know guys, I think I will have to get used to it. I mean, I look at it and it is scary new to me. When I look at the curent X5 I am like 'hell! that thing i s dated.' It is funny how we have to get used to new designs, and in a way we accept them mentally even though we are not sure of that. A good way to tell if your mind is accepting the design is to compare and contrast. OLD ![]() NEW ![]() I think it was Enilab that mentioned this, but whomever did, if it wasn't him was right...the car does have a very evolutionary conservative design to it, much like the 3er. I like it. Compared and contrast the following so that you can see that it is almost the same: 1. Grill 2. Front bumper 3. Hood 4. Even the headlights 5. The door panels Another thing I like to do is give cars personalities, especially if you can relate them to animals. I think Osna does the same thing. However, this comment may not be liked by many here but here goes: I think the picture that was posted of the new X5 makes it look like an idiot! The car looks like it is suprised or scared. It seems like it is not used to having all this equipment on it so that it can be recorded while it is driving. Funny how when you give a car personality traits it really changes your view on things. ![]() I drew the following lines to show what I think were the areas BMW evolved. ![]() Also take a look at this picture below. Notice how BMW worked and/or played with the lines. Rough edges on the headlight here ![]() Last edited by Michael; 08-02-2006 at 10:38 PM..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New X5 E70 spy pics - part 4 (pic without camo inside!) I don't think the change in the front lights is so radical. In the old X5 it was the inner side of the front lights that was wider, now it's the outer side. I at least don't need any getting use to its looks, it looks great to me already. In a matter of fact, I think the exterior changes are so scarce that for most people it's hard to comprehend that it's a totally new car not just a facelift. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New X5 E70 spy pics - part 4 (pic without camo inside!) when looking at the previous and new at a time.. the new really more looks like a FL than a new car.. ive said this before.. maybe now the formula will pay off for bimmer..cause the original X5 is very beautiful.. but its aged as hell.. this new one sure looks fresh and all that..but can we take 6 more years of similar design and shape.. this car might be in for a very early aging.. PS but then again that wont stop ppl from buying it..so no worries for BMW ![]() |

Well that was one of my points. The fact that BMW went so conservative on the deisng goes to show they did not want to do any radical design attempts on the X5 because of sales and because of the crowd that it is projected to go at. Quote:
I think the cycle for BMW with the new X5 will shorten this time around having a facelift probably come around 4 years from now. Not sure, Enilab will be able to answer that.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New X5 E70 spy pics - part 4 (pic without camo inside!) well of course there will be a FL.. but thats just a FL.. this new X5 will be around for 6 years from its debut.. my worry is that it looks very much like the old X5.. a design and shape wich we have had now for 6 years or so.. And that FL in 4 years wont change to much.. so my question is once again.. can this car mentain freshness for 6 more years..when it almost looks like the old one?? |

Im sure there will be differences just like with the old ML and new ML. Some of you are too fast with your final opinions ![]() |
