Audi Hungaria to invest EUR 250m next year

Audi Hungaria, the Hungarian affiliate of car maker Audi, expects to invest EUR 250 million in Gyor next year, by and large the same amount as in 2005, Managing Director Thomas Faustmann told reporters.

The company plans to start manufacturing a new engine and assembling the successor to the TT sports car in spring 2006, the national daily Magyar Nemzet quoted him as saying on Thursday.

Audi Hungaria expects to turn out over 50,000 of the new model annually, he said.

The revenue of the company will exceed EUR 4 billion this year, compared to EUR 3.9 billion in 2004, CFO Franke Heinrich said, adding that the plant's profit would be better than last year.

Production director Guenter Froehlich said the Gyor-based company produced 1.6 million engines this year, 150,000 more than in 2004.

Audi Hungaria employs more than 5,000 people.

They plan to sell only 50,000 TT mkII each year? That won't happen. I 'm pretty certain that once the new TT is out there won't be enough cars available to cover the mass demand.

Only if it gets decent engines like 300+ hp.

About 50% of TT owners don't even know how many hp their car has. On the other hand that can be said for the majority of German car owners.
