Again, what I initially wrote was, "It is not the role of business and commercial enterprises to distribute the wealth they create to anyone other than their stockholders." This is not the same as, "The one and only role of a corporation is to make a profit."

All along, I have said that profits should be distributed to stockholders because they own the companies.

Some interesting facts on the history of globalization:

-The "first globalization" actually occurred around between 1870-1913
-It brought the largest emigration wave in history 45 million Europeans
-It brought the first emergence of global capital markets

the second wave is already in full swing. lets hope the world doesn't go back to closed borders because of silly conflicts or socialist ideologies.

i came across some labour stats from the oecd last week, i'll try and post those when i find them. it actually turns out that those who lose their jobs find new ones and actually earn more (out of the 10 oecd countries sampled) than they did before. the hardest hit were union workers and low skilled labour.

Those stats will be most interesting to look at . . . Unions? Hmm . . . I restrain myself from bashing until I see the data.
