^gran Turismo, MGS4 and Killezone.. are pretty good reasons..

so we dont really need to get into how the PS3 looks,feels,performs like a high end machine..

I think it boils down to the gaming genres you want to play. If you're coming from a PC gaming background, I think xbox360 might be more suited to your tastes. The xbox360 seems to focus more on FPS games. Theres some strategy games like Command and Conquer 3 and Halo Wars. As for racing games, theres Forza 2, the PGR series, GTR and Colin Mcrae Dirt (also on PS3).

That's not to say PS3 is weak in those departments, its just that Xbox360 is more focused at those genres. Online multiplayer is handled very well with the Xbox360, in terms of integrated online experience. The PS3, while not as integrated as xbox live currently, aims to do it with its Home service in the near future. Sony is moving in the right direction though, for starters, almost all their current online games are running off dedicated servers - something that MS has not done for most of their games. The difference shows, when you play a 40 player Resistance game with NO lag. Quite impressive for a free service, I hope they keep it up.

The PS3 benefits from the huge gaming library of its predecessors. Throughout the years, Sony has accumulated many established franchises. Obviously if you've never been part of the playstation generation, previous playstation franchises making an appearance on the PS3 would not be very significant from your point of view. PS3 also has a very heavy Japanese developer influence, so if you're interested in games from the other side of the pond, thats another positive for the playstation.

In the end, based purely on your gaming background, I think the xbox360 might be more suited for you.

I agree the PS3 is a great machine, it's just so much more expensive than the 360, will have to put some more research into it.

I was originally going in the xbox direction, mainly because I love on line multiplayer games, and have heard xbox live is amazing.

About previous playstation titles, I have kept an eye on console games in the past, mainly wishing I could play them on my PC. Games such as GT and the F1 games interest me the most. The only thing about the PS3, is I could buy a fairly good computer for the price of one. I'm sure that prices are coming down all the time but it would cost me £500 for one with a few games, which seems a lot of money to me for a games console.

Also the xbox elite, is there any point waiting for that to come out. The problem is the TV I have to play a console on it a 28inch TV, which isn't HD ready, so I'm not going to get the best graphics out!

Considering they have stopped selling the 20gb PS3, that's probably not the case anymore!

is there a way to transfer files from my hardisk to the PS3..so that i can watch some movies..
ive tried with the Memory Stick Duo, and SD cards.. that works.. but they are to small for FULL HD files..
and it doesent recognize my HP portable harddrive when i connect it via the USB..

so is there any other way??
