Re: Touareg V10 TDI tows a 747

A VW Dealer service manager told me that Touaregs are piles of junk. I still want one, since I don't see too many "piles of junk" towing passenger planes around.

Talking about one of the most legendary 4x4s of all time. hehe
This shows the sheer torque of a diesel engine. I know a whole bunch of you like airplanes here, any clue to how much that thing weighs?

The early production Touaregs may be a little problematic, but those produced later and after the facelift should be just fine. I know of an owner who lived in Dubai and owned a Touareg there, came back to Singapore and purchased another one.

I know notic has one problematic Touareg, though.

The article says that particular 747 weighs 155 tons. Strangely, that seems like a featherweight compared to what I'd figure one weighs.

Woops sorry. Was enjoying the pics too much that I didn't read the article. I thought it would weigh more as well, but then again, those things do have to fly. Plus with all passenger and luggage, that thing should be quite heavy.

Re: Touareg V10 TDI tows a 747

Now, i am impressed. I wouldn't expect it from a car. But this is way too much. Diesel power baby

I am 99% sure that an X5 wouldn't do that...

An X5 with a V10 TDI might be able to do that. An X5 3.0d probably can't.

Makes me wonder if the Mercedes GL420 CDI / ML420 CDI could do this?
