| Re: Beautiful Photo - Image - picture Horrific images there shonguiz. Casualties-of-war images are always unpleasant ....the fact that Hiroshima was flattened by an Atomic bomb makes no real difference to those who have had their lives decimated by so called 'conventional weapons' -- the initial effects on humanity are much the same -- it is the lasting effects of radiation that makes nuclear weapons especially wicked. It is sad that the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are so often used as anti-American propaganda today ...the victims of those bombs deserve more dignity than that. |

| Re: Beautiful Photo - Image - picture Hmm, I don't know about that Artist. Firstly, what did the Americans do to the Russians? ...the Russians lived under an oppressive Totalitarian system ...if the Americans were guilty of anything, it was (like all other Western countries) doing everything they could to prevent the spread of Soviet influence and control around the world. Secondly, the Japanese started the war with the US ....and the Japanese were also working on the 'Atom Bomb' -- do you think they would have had any issues about using it if they had built it first? |

| Re: Shocking pictures of Hiroshima victims One of the most horrible war crimes ever ... beside Holocaust. It was a pure terrorist act: direct fatal attack on civilians. Over 200,000 people were killed - mostly civilians. IMO act of dropping nukes on Hiroshima & Nagasaki should forever be dirty a spot on American history. Something Americans should be ashamed of. Just like Germans are ashamed of Hitler, Nazism, Holocaust. I hope nothing similar will ever happen. It's just horrible. ![]() |

| Re: Shocking pictures of Hiroshima victims How many American lives were lost just taking Iwo Jima which was just a small island and not Japanese soil? How many hundreds of thousands of Americans would hace been killed during the invasion of Japan? That is why they dropped the first bomb. The Americans needed to give the Japanese a reason to stop fighting and that is what the bomb did. The second bomb was just to prove to the world we could do it again. |

You have no idea what you're saying, aren't you. ![]() Iwo Jima was a Japanese island featuring Japanese naval base. Something similar to Pearl Harbor. A military facility. Just like Japanese attacked PH - AN AMERICAN MILITARY FACILITY(!!!) - Americans attacked Iwo Jima - A JAPANESE MILITARY FACILITY. Hiroshima & Nagasaki were cities - civilian facilities were targeted & demolished, not the military ones. See the difference? In a war there is much difference when military facilities / troops are targeted, opposite to civilian targets / civilians. Geneva convention is clear: direct attack on civilians is a war crime. And nuking Hiroshima & Nagasaki - literally erasing more than 200,000 civilians in a few seconds - is IMO a war crime par excellence. Anyone who can see that is either brainwashed, or at least completely ignorant. That saying I'm aware Japanese warriors also committed numerous war crimes - mainly in China, Korea & other near-by countries. Having killed hundreds of thousands of civilians, raped thousands of women, tortured numerous POW etc. I'm also aware generally in WWII French, Britons, Russians, Americans & their allies were the "good guys", while eg. Germans, Italians & Japanese & co. were "bad guys". But that nuking was way to excessive. Nuking entire cities is just - as said - war crime par excellence. Just behind Holocaust. Talking about WWII war crimes of course. Not to mention US generals were eager to drop even more nuclear bombs in the case Japan continues with war activities. Fortunately Japan surrendered just in time. Please take no offense. I just can't understand how can you defend such an evil act just because it was done by your country / army. ![]() IMO every such act should be condemned - no matter who does it. ![]() |

Yes it sucks 200,000 people died with the two bombs, but it could have been much worse, we will never know. How do you feel about Dresden? |

| Re: Shocking pictures of Hiroshima victims Same way. And same way about V2-ing London. Etc. It's an act of a coward to attack civilians. It's a dirty play. Both sides used this dirty tactics in WWII, and I condemn both sides for doing it. We're seeing this attack on civilians every day ... Either by terrorists or by regular troops. It makes me sick. I'm totally anti war but in the case of war - I can somehow understand the direct confrontation between armies / troops, but attacking civilians is beyond my comprehension. It's just too animal-like for my mind. OK, army men have to deal with tactics, and sometimes they think "killing X thousands civilians will end the war (or at least temporarily stop the enemy) and save another X thousand civilians. But still: they are killing CIVILIANS!!! Military (= politically motivated) attack on civilians = terrorism (by definition). Period. Eg.In the Balkan war started in the 90's the ex-Yugoslav army systematically targeted private residential buildings, schools, churches, hospitals, and other public places in Bosnia & Croatia - demolishing the buildings and killing the civilians inside. It was a systematic tank / cannon fire. Pure terrorism - done by a regular army. It was a part of a tactic as well - to force the other side to surrender. Sounds familiar? Targeting civilians = targeting the easiest target. And by doing that putting the other side under pressure: giving them ultimatum - either stop fighting & surrender , or more civilians will be slaughtered. It's a tactic of cowards. It just doesn't matter who use it. Nobody shouldn't! |
