Agreed. I sent you a PM in reference to some important information regarding watches.

I like this one ..but it is not in my top three. The case is made from meteorite!

But I really like these.

Blancpain
I have loved this particular watch for a very long time -- it is simple and elegant, a very classic design. I would choose it with the galvanic blue face.

Other Blancpain watches I like.

Patek Philippe
This is a watch I would probably never wear ...but it is so beautiful nonetheless.

This would be a very nice watch for daily use

Philippe Dufour -- These are extraordinary timepieces, every single component is entirely hand made -- these are quite simply the world's best watches.

Philippe Dufour pocket watch.

Philippe Dufour

But this is the watch I am currently obsessed with ...I want Santa to bring me this for Christmas

A. Lange & Söhne
1815 Moonphase

Meteorite! Just when you think you've seen it all, here comes a precious material from outer space. You can't even get more, you just have to wait for it! That also looks like a Stingray strap. It's like - if you wanted to blow the doors off of anything that crossed your path, you'd get this watch... "Hey man, my Chopard is made of 24k rose gold." "Oh yeah? Well... my watch is make from a f'n meteorite!

Not mad about the Antoine Preziuso stuff. Seems like another brand from an accomplished watchmaker who knows their stuff but is pretty clueless when it comes to branding, design and product dev.

I know some day I'll end up with a Lange & Söhne on my wrist. It'll probably be the day I die too, because I've instructed my wife to shoot me if/when that happens.

Philippe Dufour is pure drool. He gets everything right. Its the watch that puts all watches on blast because it's the best craftsmanship money can buy and has nothing to prove. It could rightfully coat itself in diamonds and all manner of gaudy materials and keep a straight face - but it doesn't need to.

Sad, by the time I'll be able to afford one of those beauties, Mr. Dufour will probably have crossed the river... maybe I can put down a small deposit and collect the watch sometime after 2050.

LOL, you are a great character Josh. It was you who introduced me to the joys of Lange & Söhne -- I love their watches.

I have read quite a bit about Philippe Dufour and, like you, I appreciate the simplicity of his creations ...God is in the details ..as they say. They are truly amazing watches ..there really is nothing else quite like them being made today.

What is your opinion of Blancpain and Patek Philippe Josh? ...I have long been a fan of both those makers ...I have a special fondness for the clarity and simplicity of the Blancpain dials.

Re: I just bought a Breitling Tourbillon.

It is so interesting to see the watches being posted here. You begin to wonder where the line is actually drawn and you no longer are looking at practical watches that can be worn day in day out but rather watches that are pieces of art. Many of these watches can be admired for hours--no pun intended. Making a watch our of meteorite is just.....well...Josh said it all. I can't begin to wonder how many pieces were made. Can someone tell me?

To me I find interesting that there is a lot of interest in automatic movements. I have always loved the idea of automatic movements. Growing up my fathers Rolex perplexed me becuase I understood watches that worked off battery power. Eventually this power would diminish until the watch worked no more. Nevertheless, his watch kept on going and that fascination has keeped me in loved with automatic movements. Not until I was able to appreciate the intelligence and engineering that goes into such movements was I able to fully grasp the beauty of it. Now I appreciate it more than ever.

However, we are not appreciating movements here alone, but the materials, design, and overall quality of the piece. It is art and a functional one if I may say so.

Re: I just bought a Breitling Tourbillon.

You have quite an expensive taste Roberto, but I'm not going to lie. I also admire Breguet watches. The watch made out of meteor rock is just out of this world, is there one made of kryptonite or plutonium?

My three favorite watches are the following:

IWC Portuges automatic chrono
I just love this watch to much. It is so distinctive, simple but oh so beautiful. This is my dream watch number one. I appretiate the beauty of the way it shows time in an easy and clear manner.

Breguet Marine Chronograph 5827

What do you have to say about 25 jewels and 48 hours of power reserve. A Case in white gold doesn't exactly make it less desirable, though it does deserve something better than a rubber bracelet

IWC Spitfire UTC

Although I prefer leather braclet there are some nice watches out there with steel braclefts like the IWC Spitfire UTC. What I like about it is that it is pretty clear and simple. More over it is just 11.6mm high, which makes it easy to wear with shirts and suits.
