| ![]() ![]() As a watch fan I though that this watch is worth posting. Now to the subject, the "Tour de l’ile" manufactured by Vacheron Constantin is most expensive watch in the world and will set you back a wopping $1.5 million dollar(!). Gosh I never knew that time would be that expensive. Now you are probably wondering "What does this watch do that a $100 Swatch watch doesn't?". First of all a Swatch watch is faaaaaaaaaaaaaar from as precis and escat as the Tour de l’ile. What the Vacheron Constantin Tour de l’ile also does is that is has a callender which will show the exact date for ever. In order worth unlike your average watch with date function this one knows how many days there are in every month and when it is a leap year. If you happen to be hidding underground(Sadam?) the watch shows you when the sun will rise and when the sun will set. Last but now least it shows if it's full moon, half moon or if there isn't a moon in the sky at all. BTW don't expect to pick one of these up tomorrow becasue it takes 8-10 month for one of these master peices to be built. So my question for you is, this watch or a Veyron + Veyron watch. - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER Quote:

| Re: The most expensive watch in the world. A very fine watch Luw, but perhaps just a bit too expensive (and I love expensive things )I hardly ever wear a watch, but I saw an old 1950's Patek Philippe a while ago that I fell in love with, it had a rose gold face and a black leather strap - it was very expensive, but no where near the price of your "Vacheron Constantin" Luw. |

. When finish school and have good paying job I will probably have three different watches for different occasions. A wrist watch is really a mans one and only jewel, there fore I think that each one of you should buy a good quality watch. | |

--- As for this watch, wow, how hideously expensive. Nice enough watch though. I'd question the value proposition, but hey, for a limited edition of 7, I'm sure they'll find their way to the man who has everything (short of a $1.5m watch). A rose gold watch sounds nice, I'm not very fond of gold watches. I prefer stainless steel, or titanium. I'm wondering about the comfort and effectiveness of a leather band, too. I much prefer the look of an all-metal bracelet, although it would add to the weight. Maybe that's one reason why I don't really like wearing my watch. However, I just prefer the feeling of being free of encumbrance. At the moment it's just some cheapie watch; but I wouldn't mind getting a new one. Nothing like this Vacheron Constantin - more like something less than AUS$300, and I do like the current trend of square or rectangular faces. Something simple and elegant, and I like the dark face ones. I second what Luw said about it being more proper to use your watch to keep track of time, and not your watch. However, sometimes I don't really care - Australia is reasonably laid back anyhow. Jewellery for men is becoming more common - and a watch is a pretty 'safe' way of expressing your personality in jewellery for a man. But apart from watches, often I find men's jewellery all along the same theme, a bit of a hackneyed repetition and no innovation. It's token stuff, just so that you can say that men have jewellery. I don't like it that much anyway, but I do find the appearance in shop windows quite interesting. | |

| Re: The most expensive watch in the world. He he, no Snake - They were the dying words of the father of the disgraced media Baron Conrad Black - he sounds like a very pleasant man don't you think. Also, I usually prefer Stainless Steel and Platinum too, but the particular watch I saw in rose gold was very beautiful. |

| Re: The most expensive watch in the world. Yeah, what a life. With an attitude like that, maybe death was a welcome release. Anyhow, it could have been worse - he could have said, "all people are bastards".. ![]() Yep, stainless steel, titanium and platinum, with a black or dark blue face, for the same reasons why I like Audi - understated elegance. I like rose gold, too. It's unusual and striking, a strong colour. Yellow gold is soo passe, and white gold is liked jumped up silver.. j/k.. They suit some people.. ![]() |

| Re: The most expensive watch in the world. A very impressive watch - though I can't see what justifies the price tag. Sorry to be a little off topic but what do you guys think of the Carrera watch by Tag Heuer? Or any recommendations for watches below USD600? |

| Re: The most expensive watch in the world. Tag Heuer are time keeps for many events and their watches are of high quality. I think that it looks very distinctive and modern. |
