Theres a difference between hating my country and accepting the truth that alot of what my government says is all propaganda and BS.

Sure, I was just kidding about Beirut (I'm sure it's as dreadful at this time of year as any other time) - you have a right to question your government - most people don't trust politicians, George Bush's government is exceptionally unpopular - the "war on terror" has been messy so far and big mistakes have been made...but western governments are not responsible for all of the world's problems, world poverty and deprivation are not all America's fault - no country in the world gives more to help the needy in other countries than the US - lets not forget that.

Gosh, I despise conspiracy theories.

You know I watched a video once which proved, using a computer-generated 3D scene mock-up (drawing lines from gunman to vehicle, etc) that JFK's assassination was in fact masterminded by the CIA and Lee Harvey Oswald was just an elaborate cover for them - the bullet in no way whatsoever could've come from where Oswald was standing - the 3D computer scenerio proved this.

Me with my small-minded ignorance (I was 10, or something), believed it no questions asked, until, as I grew, I started to learn more things about the nature of mankind, its thirst for gossip, conspiracy and the like - but more also about how easy it is to play the art of deception. I saw another video, years later, which proved, using the same computer-generated 3D scene mockup, that Lee Harvey Oswald was undoubtedly the real killer, that any notion of a government conspiracy was irrevocably and undisputedly flawed.

Exactly the same evidence used, analysing exactly the same scenario, yet two different and supremely opposing conclusions were drawn.

I guess I shared this just to illustrate how easy it is to pick, warp and discard evidence in order to create a convincing argument - or, as it were, a convincing conspiracy theory. Most conspiracy theories in my mind, though, including this S11 one, when seen from a wider perspective, seem entirely illogical and just plain laughable. I think Choleric made mention of an assertion the documentary makes that the US government plotted the S11 attacks... I mean, come ON. I don't think any government, neither sane nor insane, democratic or dictatorial, would be idiodic enough orchestrate something like the attacks. The loss of life is one thing, but what about everything else - the literal hundreds of billions spent by the government, companies, airlines etc in direct response to the attacks. The huge effect the attacks have had on the American economy, both in general but also in countless specific industries - most prominent both the airplane manufacturing (thousands of jobs lost I'd imagine) and the airline industry itself. The huge investment of resources, manpower, money and energy now going into the so-called "War on Terror" - in my mind essentially a fruitless endevour - that could have gone into much more beneficial pursuits; pursuits that would've actually had a positive effect on the American economy and people. All these other things, in my mind, are overshadowed by the effects S11 has had on the general mindset of the American people (and even, the western populace in general) - simply, the fear it has brought about. And this fear has in itself led not only to large problems in, for example, the tourism industry, but also affects the very basic lives of many, many millions of American lives. Living in a fear of an unknown enemy is probably one of the most uneasy and unenviable positions to be in, and any government that would willingly bestow this sort of fear on its people, for no foreseeable reason whatsoever, is idiodic.

George W Bush is said to have quite a low IQ but I doubt he is that dumb.
