True, but the same can mostly be said about BMW facelifts, and even Audi facelifts (minus the last facelift to the big grille).

I think that is because their basic designs are so good to begin with. I mean what could really do to a SL or A8 or 3-Series at facelift time to improve upon them?

A8 - headlights! 'Cause they already look dated and it'll take some time for us
to see the new A8.
3 series - rear lights! The only problem that the current 3er has...
SL - NOTHING!!! Everything about that car's design is on it's place and simply perfect!

they have allready FL the SL..

.. its even hotter now.. little bit sharper..
but as you say no need to mess with a perfect design

I know they've tweaked the SL, but really were the changes all that dramatic, we're the only folks that can readily spot them. Most folks on the street couldn't. A light here, a bumper there that is all they can mess with when the basic design is so good.

Belgian Magazines say it could be a mule from Porsche, because of the BB-numberplate and the porsche-like exhausts

This looks likes a facelift to me. It's really not that soon, but the time this would hit the road it will be about a year, which would put it right on schedule for a mid-life faceflit, unless it happens to be a Porsche mule.
