yep im expecting full sets of LED lights on the new SL

I am expecting the new SL to take a SLR-type nose, similar to the SLK. I also believe it will take many design cues from the upcoming AMG-developed coupe that is set to take SLR's place once it bows out. We should see a "vision" model of this AMG coupe before the new SL is out.

Given that the current model bowed in September 2001, we should see the new SL in autoshows by September 2009 or so. The car is holding out well, although the new S and CL (and even SLK) have significantly dated it. The interior especially shows its date to me.

I am looking forward to the next generation SL 65 AMG, with 700hp 4valve V12, and 7 speed DSG.

i dont think it will have that nose..as it will be a thing of the past by then..i belive it will bring new stuff to the table

I don`t agree with this ps job. one thing to note I believe MB is done with the era of rounded headlights. Huck`s got some more work cut out for himself on this item.

Except it won`t be call SL65, it might be called SL69 (to recall the 450SEL 6.9 of the 70s) AMG developed the 6.3liter to recall the 63 of the late 70 so I expect them to do the same with the next "S69 AMG." 700hp is pretty extreme though, 645 would be more reasonable, but who really knows.

The S65 might get a powerboost before that V12 is droped.

Looks terrible. Thank God it is only a photoshop, but I hope the next generation SL won't look anything like this abomination.

MB should be working on a new DOHC (520hp

) V12 as we speak!
It should be mated to a revised 7-speed. The turbos should be droped.

The other day I was reading on the currant V12s greenhouse control quality, it wasn`t good at all.

I think we'll see the new V12 at the CL/S facelift which will be like 2009/2010 to be timed perfectly with a new SL and a new SL600. Some torque will be lost though.

It won't.

It is very evident, the next SL will take on some of the styling from the CL but also be more angular -- Mercedes design is definitely heading towards more 'faceted' design as seen on the ODC.
