This winter is the warmest Winter in the latest years.

And today in my home town (Ljubljana, Slovenia) the highest January temeperature in 140 years (since they started to measure it) have been measured: almost 16oC (60oF). Spring flowers blooming, bushes & trees bursting, insect flying around ... Not to mention some heavy windy days we experienced lately. And absolutely no snowfalls yet. Not the normal January / Winter we used to know.



Any similar events in your town / country?

Yes. Calgary, Alberta.

I remember when we used to heavy snowfall and wicked winter for about 6 months of the year. Now however..

We seem to goes through these strange seasons where it can be +10 (oC) in the middle of December when in previous years we experienced must colder average tempatures.

That's not to say it isn't cold, because it is (but much less extreme tempatures than before)

but fluctuating weather is a norm in Nebreaska, always has been, can be 90 one day than 40 the next...

Our first snowfall was on december 26th... typically a month++ late.

Last year we were buried in snow by this time and this year, we haven't gotten any snow at all. And we've barely had any minus degrees at all. The global warming thing is really showing.

I don't mind global warming that much as long as it doesn't go too far but I think it now has.
I read the other day that everything we do today to reduce global warming will have an effect first in 30 years. Hope we'll see some results before then.

This also a n El nino year which has some effect on things, like Denver, which is one of the driest cities in terms of percipitation in the US, getting dumped with two feet of snow in two consecutive weeks.

We had the warmest December ever recorded... right now the temperature is about normal (-9°C) but it's only been like this for a couple of days now, and above-freezing temperatures are expected again next week.

Here's a map showing how much snow we've got. Looking at it you'd think it's November.

Also worth mentioning is that Calgary has much more humidty than it ever did.
