![]() Yes, we have, but the difference is that you have days to prepare for a hurricane, and only minutes for a tornado We also have tornados in Florida, but not like in Jeff's neck of the woods We evacuated for hurricane Andrew, way back, we were 2 blocks from the Atlantic Ocean ( other side of Florida). We we came home , it was total devastation. in 2004 we braced for the fury of hurricane Charley, a powerful Cat 4 storm, we were living at an apartment while our house was finished. If it would have hit Tampa as projected, were would have been gone with the wind But it hit 200 miles south, so it was ok for us, terrible for Naples. A month later, hurricane Frances passes over Tampa, still in the apartment I went outside for 2 minutes to see the starry sky through the eye of the storm. it was unreal...! Then Hurricane Jeanne passes over Tampa, we are already in our new house. But our house is of the new generation, and is built to withstand Cat-3 hurricane winds. We saw the trees go sideways, things flew, we lost power, but we were safe for the first time ![]() | |
