| So I finally drove the new S-class First off I don't want to incite a war or words w/ fellow members of whom are MB fans and fans of the S-class. That said my view of the new S-class after experiencing it from behind the wheel going for a drive isn't favorable. Simply put I was uninspired and very unimpressed. More specifically I really didn't understand how this car went about going and stopping; the accelerator seemed a little hesitant for me to mash down and fire things up in the straights, while the brakes weren't eager to stop the car in a timely enough manner (huge suprise here, especially since these weren't the drive by wire brakes), though the pedal wasn't lacking in feel. For these two reasons I was hugely let down because I felt the car should have been able to accerlate quickly, especially considering the numbers. Brakes: almost all modern German cars stop in an extremely brisk manner in a short window of time at just a cover of the brake pedal. The steering was typical Benz, light but direct and made the car feel a lot smaller than outward impressions might suggest. Interior quality was tops, seats were comfy and allowed for plenty of adjustment. Command II was fairly easy to use, though the suspesion settings were not very easy to acess. In the midst of it all though, I felt very isoalted, and I guess this is the purpose of the S-class: to provide an enviorment in which the driver and his passengers are removed from the driving scene and put first on the comfort scene. All in all, if it hasn't registered by now, this is totally not the car for me, but that's ok, becasue it will overcompensate for x 1,000 more. Short and slap dashed effort, but I have things to do people to see, yes even at 11:35pm... ![]() |

lOl, I`m sure you remember this video, it speaks for itself. Don`t forget to read all the fanboy clatter on this site, it`s quit funny. - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER Anyway I`ve been reading quit a lot of articles on the W221 S-Class from customers and journalists alike, yours and Mirage77`s reviews are actually the most critical I`ve come across so far. Everyone has his own opinion, I plan on giving mine with a test drive later on, Im too busy these days..

No matter what anyone says won't change that this simply isn't the car for me. A great car it is, but doesn't meet my standards in any way, perhaps when I'm another 40 yrs young I'll have more of an appreciation for such an automobile, then again, maybe not???Last edited by Deutsch; 06-05-2006 at 10:18 PM.
