According to the website, this is an S63 ......how can you tell?

The S63 is supposed to debut in January 2007. It will be a 2008 model.

its a S65.. ive posted the pics in S65 thread a while ago..
look at the joint exhaust only 65´s that have that..
its misslabeled on the site..

this is not the s 63 amg ,,, it has the same kit as the s 65 and the same exhaust./...

Why Mercedes would make a S63 AMG, when the S63 AMG would be less powerful than the more luxurious S600?

Isn't AMG supposed to be the most powerful and sporty model of every Mercedes range.

Why make an AMG less powerful than a Luxurious equivalent version?

Autually the S63 predicted to be more powerful than the S600!
The S600 stands at 517hp and 612lf-ft from it`s 5.5liter Bi-Turbo V12. The S63 AMG is supposed to have 571hp and 664lb-ft from its 6.0liter Bi-Turbo V8.

The S63 should slate between the S600 and S65.

I was going to ask how can you tell what that is without a badge. It could be a S350 in AMG Sportswear!

Anyway, this S63 had better have 570hp and like 620lb-ft of torque to put up any meaningful gains in performance over the previous S55. The S65 I predect for 2008 will get a slight power hike to reach the magic 650hp mark to keep it ahead of its new sibling.

I suspect Mercedes will try their best to truly make the S63 the sportiest S-Class variant from a handling point of view if the new SL55, CLK63 (OMG IT NOW HAS ABC!) and rumored SLK Track Sport are anything to go by. The 650hp S65 will likely be a tenth faster here and there but the S63 will be the handler of the S-Class lineup. I suspect we'll get more details on this new turbo version of the new AMG V8 when the new CL comes out of hiding next month.

An S63 make perfect sense since the S65 is far too expensive, even for many S, 7er and A8 buyers.
