A blissful 80mph...

driving down the street in the oppisite direction as I was going to school was the new S-class. The car was rediculously good looking and had an undeniable presence, this the car has in oceans. After I left the library from studying on my way home I stopped by the local M.B. dealer(five mins from my house as well as a BMW dealer) and low and behold there it was, a blk/blk S550, the car made me jump out of my skin. I gave it a quick once over around the exterior and I was smitten like no other, the way the lines on this car are grafted and mixed together is a sight to see. I then sat in the interior, which prior, looking at pictures I was hot and cold on. Once I sat inside though I had a real appreciation for the much finer detail and thought given to the quality of the interior, it feels like an expensive car. The way the lighting works once you close the doors is pretty spectacular as well, there's a very theatrical feel to it that I've never experienced in any other car. The room of course was first rate, no other car on the market could seat myself and others so comftarble w/ so much space, bar a 7, A8, or the higher upse such as the R.R. Phantom and so on. This car is truly awesome, and it's made me fall in love w/ M.B. all over again... if this car is any sign of any of the other new models to come... WOW! M.B. will truly have a bright future and once again reign as the pinacle of the premium luxury car sector. Believe me, a test drive is next....

Awesome! Did you take any pics (with your cell phone camera maybe). So was it for test drives or just display? And they let you sit in it?? Must have been nice
Thanks for sharing

I was going to take pics, but I soon realized upon sitting in the drivers seat that I had left my cam phone in my car, and as this was in transition w/ me on my way home it would have been pointless to go back out. The salesman seemed willing to let me drive it if I were to come in again, so we'll see what happens.. I'll for sure be updating you guys in the very near future.

That's a wonderful experience. I hope the new S-Class will rekindle my love for Mercedes-Benz like how it did for you.

Re: A blissful 80mph...

I saw the new S at Frankfurt, and had a different experience to you!

I thought the interior was amazing and top quality but the exterior design to me seemed very bland, maybe it was just me but I wasn't very impressed!

Re: A blissful 80mph...

Bump,

I saw right behind a silver one today, just before hand I had driven by the local dealer on my way home and the black car that was originally there was no longer there. Between the two colors, both are nice, but silver(as always for me) takes the cake. This car also looks to be about he sportiest/most elegant MB bar the CLS I have yet seen.

Nice story Stuttgarter. I also hope the S takes my breath away and reaffirms some of my faith in MB. Setting my expectations to high perhaps?

Re: A blissful 80mph...

I too hope I am this taken with the car when I actually get a chance to sit in it. I've seen it at the dealer, but outside and obviously locked. I need to see the car in the light of day not a rainy/cold night like I have so far. If Mercedes delivers a phsycially robust car (which is what everyone says so far) then I think the styling will become less of an issue. The key for this S-Class is build quality and reliability. Does anyone know anything on how the car is doing in Europe so far? Any problems?

Re: A blissful 80mph...

To bad your experience with the new S hasn't been positive but MB might have made a misstake with the Command 3 system. I have said it before and I'll say it again the interior quality of the S seen to be fantastic but I prefer the layout interior of the CLS and E-class. I buy and test new gadget frequently and although I love advance features i still put value simplicity. Accessing certain features quicky and is very important to me. If I'm listening to CD I want at the touch of a button be able to switch from CD to radio.

I beleive that you really should have to look at a screen for several seconds to access and manage functions such as CD, radio, climate control and sat nav. Not only is it enoying having to navigate a screen but it's also dangerous and takes your focud off the road. I have yet to visit my local MB dealer and check the car out in detail but I'll do it sometime the next week and see what I'll come across.
