![]() | Re: Rolls-Royce 100EX Experimental Centenary Car Thanks for the quality shots. I like the car. It is again pure excess with no pretense otherwise. It is probably a much needed addition to the single model RR line (other than the extended RRP). |

Seriously though, what are you on about? -- "old-school" why does everyone insist on saying that about the Rolls-Royce interiors .......can't you see that they are very sophisticated contemporary pastiches on the classic Rolls-Royce interiors of the past. They are not old-fashioned at all, rather, they are inspired by tradition -- that is a vastly different thing altogether. The whole impression is vaguely "Retro" ..without being a facsimile of past vehicles ...I think it is a brilliant achievement. ![]() If I may be able to give you an example of pastiche in design. This famous chair was designed in 1930 ![]() ...and this Post-modern pastiche was designed in the 1980's ![]() ...it captures the essence of the original design ...perhaps exaggerating the style a bit ....but could hardly be described as old-fashioned. BTW, those headlights (and LEDs) have been confirmed for the production version, they (the round headlights) will be slightly larger ..like on the Phantom. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Rolls-Royce 100EX Experimental Centenary Car I don't disagree with you on any of that (nice pics by the way), but I just don't like Roller interiors compared to say Bentleys. The old-style thin rimmed steering wheel looks like it would hurt to grip it. The switches and what not just look so old-fashioned to me, not sporting in the least. Now before you say it I know a Roller isn't about being sporty, but still. Now that picture of the concept car's interior is much better (I'd still want a steering wheel that doesn't look like it belongs in a bus though) than the interior on the production Phantom. Still though Roller interiors make me feel like I'm driving my grandaddy's car. That said I'd likely add one of these to my "ultimate garage" on the sheer looks of the thing. The final verdict will come as always when the production version is shown. Edit: In further looking at other pics, it is likely that the dash and steering wheel is what I dislike the most, not the seats etc. M |
