The M1 was way ahead of it's time and unfortunately it was too ahead of it's time. It came out BMW had to create it's own series because it was allowed in the others. I for one would never compare this car to the SLR. While this car is great it doesn't compare to the SLR.
Lets not forget, this car is not a supercar, it's only at the Porsche carrera level...not the carrera GT level.
either way...hot car and that 4.1sec is an amazing time. Looks like that Quattro is actually helping it rather than bog it down with weight. |
I think you misunderstood my post, I wasn't talking about the R8 being a better performance car than the SLR. The SLR is a supercar, which the R8 is a supercoupe, their not in the same class nor are they after the same market! I assumed they meant that the R8 is better at being what it was created to be, it's quick, great handling, and comfortable, and also very desirable in this segment. The SLR has the performance ability to run with the rest of the class, but never was desired as much as the Enzo, CGT, Murci etc... Don't quote me but I don't think it handles as well as the comp either.
