With the X5 it's mostly because it's an old model. I don't have the sales figures for when it was new but you do see them around, I'd say more often than previous generation MLs. With the X3 it's different, it never really caught on here. Dunno if it's the styling or the pricing.

The top-selling SUV in Sweden for the first six months of 2006 was Hyundai Santa Fe.

Re: Q7 selling like butter...

Here are the sales figures for the Premium SUVs (the last 3 years) in Finland:

2003:

Volvo XC90: 227
BMW X5: 167
MB ML-Class: 112
VW Touareg: 50
Porsche Cayenne: 19

2004:

Volvo XC90: 372
BMW X5: 171
BMW X3: 159
MB ML-Class: 100
VW Touareg: 89
Porsche Cayenne: 33

2005:

Volvo XC90: 372 (same figure as previous year; weird )
BMW X5: 185
BMW X3: 147
MB ML-Class (W164): 90
VW Touareg: 84
MB ML-Class (W163): 47
Porsche Cayenne: 30

PS. Honda CR-V has been the top selling SUV in Finland for a few years. Last year 1700 were bought when for the 2 previous years (2004 & 2003) the average was about 1000.

Re: Q7 selling like butter...

VERY nice post BMer, thanks.

It's awesome to see the the Volvo is the top seller over there. Makes sense too
I think though, that the E70 will go beyond that.

Re: Q7 selling like butter...

I know everybody would care a less about the Finnish sales figures for SUVs but here goes :

There's a big surprise, the new ML has really rocked the market here:

1-8/2006

MB ML-Class: 321
Volvo XC90: 309
Audi Q7: 141
BMW X5: 73

Re: Q7 selling like butter...

In the US the Q7 isn't selling well at all. I barely see any around. Audi also said that they are cutting exports to the US because of slow sales.

That's not true. Audi is selling in US better than expected , Enilab has posted the relative articles but i don't remember where it is right now.

On the other hand in Europe Q7 is a huge success, here in Greece the waiting period is at least six months which is more than X5 and ML.

I'm pretty sure the article said that it is not selling that well in the US but it is doing great in Europe... which is exactly opposite of what Audi was expecting. That's why they were cutting production right?

Re: Q7 selling like butter...

The article said sales ratio between US vs Rest of the World was skewed (not expected 50:50) due huge demand in Europe which had exceeded Audi expectations. US sales are within expectations though.
