AutoBild: Panamera body to be built by VW

Porsche Panamera body made by VOLKSWAGEN?

Does the four-door Porsche sportsman become a half Volkswagen? The Volkswagen plant in the Hanover of Lower Saxony already counts on additional orders.

10.04.2006 - "We could guarantee at least 500, perhaps 700 jobs for many years after the deal ", said a Volkswagen high-level personnel for the industry newspaper "Automobile week".
Industry circles in Stuttgart had confirmed before that the body of the Panamera, Porsche's fourth series, was to be built in Hanover. Body and lacquer finish are to be assigned to VW Hanover plant. The assembly of the car is to take place in Leipzig.
It would be the first common project after the entrance of Porsche in VOLKSWAGEN. An official decision has been not taken yet, but it is however expected very soon. The Leipzig plant already assambles the Cayenne which is likewise built in co-operation with VOLKSWAGEN. The Panamera is to come 2009 on the market.

Didn't Wiedeking state that the Panamera will be a Porsche-exclusive car?

He did.

Meaning: Panamera will be developed by Porsche only, not in cooperation with another manufacturer - it will not have VW "brother" vehicle (like Cayenne has in Touareg).

But VW will built / produce some Panamera parts for Porsche. Porsche will use VW's production facilities.

This is just a confirmation of what some sources had said many months ago.
