Double victory for Porsche in "auto motor und sport" readers' survey

911 and Carrera GT are Germany's best sports cars

The "best sports cars" are Porsches again this year. Readers of "auto motor und sport" magazine voted the 911 (type 997) and the Carrera GT in the top two positions of "the best cars" in the "sports cars" category in this year's competition. The Porsche models have thus secured one of the most coveted car awards in Europe, which is being awarded for the 30th time in 2006. Nearly 100,000 readers took part in the latest survey.

17.1% of participants voted for the 911 Carrera. This is the 26th time that a model from the 911 series, which has been produced in Zuffenhausen for 42 years, has achieved a place at the top of the winners' podium in one of the categories of the annual "auto motor und sport" readers' survey. The Porsche 911 is ahead of the VW Golf as the model that has achieved the most victories overall throughout the 30 years of the competition. This year, the high-performance Carrera GT sports car follows it in second place with 15.9% of the votes. The new Cayman S also put up a courageous fight on its first attempt. As "auto motor und sport" said itself, "The Mercedes SLR McLaren in third place is the only thing that is preventing Porsche from being awarded gold, silver and bronze in the sports cars category."
