![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Porsche drivers are the 'happiest' Porsche drivers are 'happiest' ![]() 21/12/2005 10:40 Porsche owners are happiest with their cars, followed by drivers of five major Japanese manufacturers, according to a survey conducted by Germany's largest automobile association the ADAC. Of the 34 cars tested in the survey, German-built cars received only average points with Volkswagen, Land Rover and Smart owners at the bottom of the list. Some 54 000 German motorists were asked to grade from 1-5 their satisfaction level with the car combining experience with the vehicle and workshop service. Porsche had the highest marks at 1.2 followed by Subaru (1.22), Toyota (1.27), Honda (1.32), Mazda (1.37) and Mitsubishi (1.43). The Russian manufacturer Lada had a surprisingly high figure of 1.46 points, taking seventh position overall. The ADAC said the owners of such vehicles also had minimal expectations from the car, expecting it only to take them reliably from A to B. Expectations from premium car manufacturers were far higher with customers expecting good quality and service for the higher price. Mercedes was voted near the bottom of the list at 2.02 points. The Smart manufactured by the DaimlerChrysler concern was last on the list with 2.17 points. In analysing the result the ADAC said the problem cars at Mercedes were the V-Class, the Vito, the G-Modell and Vaneo. The VW Sharan, VW Bus T5 and the Lupo also had poor ratings. I knew the V-class/Vito and the Vaneo were crap, but the G? I thought it was something of an old-school Mercedes with higher build quality. And don't get me started on Lada... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Porsche drivers are the 'happiest' Well I certainly wouldn't call the G class a POS, but I've been saying this for quite some time - the thing is 25 years old - it's out of date. I think once the GL has been on the market for a couple of years, we might see the end of the G class once and for all - it was of course supposed to be replaced with the GL but healthy demand for it in the [not always so logical] US market has meant they decided to keep it in production for a while longer - it is sad that it's once bulletproof reputation is now tarnished. As for Porsche drivers being the happiest - should any of us be surprised by that? |
