![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | AUTO SPIES EXCLUSIVE: What's wrong with the new Carrera 4 and C4S? AUTO SPIES EXCLUSIVE: What's wrong with the new Carrera 4 and C4S? 12/1/2005 Dealers are reporting to the Spies that the launch of the Carrera 4 and C4S is not going as well as thought. One large west coast dealer who requested anonymity said the reaction by customers has been lukewarm at best. All Porsche dealers received one 4 and one 4S for the launch (Silver/Black 4, Black/Tan 4S). Based on a survey of over thirty dealers around the country this week, most retailers have yet to sell either unit. If you go to Porsche.com and search dealers inventories, you’ll also notice they still have the launch units for sale. So what’s the problem? Are they bad cars? Not in the least. The new C4S is spectacular in our opinion. We think the problem is that most people who bought the previous generation C4S bought it because of the wide aggressive looking body compared to the 996 C2 and not the AWD capabilities. |

Yeah some people do think that the 996 C4 looks better than the new C4 since it looks more aggresive than the normal 966. Unlike the 997 c4 which doesn't look any different to a 9997 s if you fail to notice the 3.4 inch wider rear. |

But Porsche people do not just jump on th efirst thing out, they keep their cars and buy new ones whne they feel its time, not just becasue its new on the market... |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: AUTO SPIES EXCLUSIVE: What's wrong with the new Carrera 4 and C4S? Too early to tell, nevertheless the lack of agresivity is Porsches weak point IMO. Even the RUF, looks more like Herbie the VW BUG, than a "deriere" kicking super sport car. Heck even the CGT could have been made more agresive. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: AUTO SPIES EXCLUSIVE: What's wrong with the new Carrera 4 and C4S? Porsche are above all about function overcoming form. The smooth teardrop formula of the 911 is hallowed stuff to the Porsche afficionado. Furthermore to a real Porschephile the runny egg lights were deplorable and the pinched 911 turbo units mildly better. A 997 Carrera with round lights is the best looking 911 ever. Somethings just don't need changing. Long live the classic 911 recipe! Now then where's that pesky Artist's signature when you need it? ![]() |
