![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The Engine Thread I looked but couldn't find a thread on just engines. In this thread I want to discuss engines. It should follow this format. 1. engine name 2. specs 3. Car it's used in. 4. Credentials/Awards if any. 5. Why you like this engine. Now don't go and list all the engines you like. List the ones you like the MOST. here is mine. 1. S54B32 2. 3.2L, Inline 6, 343hp at 7900rpm (333 for US spec), 269ft-lb Torque. 3. E46 M3, M-coupe (both), Z3M and Z4M. 4. International Engine of the Year 2001, Best new engine 2001, 3-4L engine of the year 2001-2006. 5. I like this engine because it's used in one of my fav cars (M3), I have a little bit of experience with this engine. It is such a smooth yet powerful engine, it's magical. Also, it has lots of international recognition. - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER C'mon guys...let's get this thread rolling. And please no bashing in this thread...because this thread is about personal opinion, so just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean you have to bash them. thanks... M120 Mercedes-Benz AMG 12 Cylinder 2. 7291cc (7.3 litres) 12 Cylinders, 60 degree Bore & Stroke: 91.5mm x 92.4mm Compression Ratio: 10.0:1 DOHC, 4VPC Zonda F: 602 PS @ 6,150 rpm/760Nm (561lb-ft) of torque @ 4,000 rpm Zonda F Clubsport 650 PS @ 6,200 rpm/780Nm (575lb-ft) of torque @ 4,000 rpm Zonda S: 555 PS @ 5,900 rpm/750Nm (553lb-ft) of torque @ 4,050 rpm SL73 AMG 525 PS @ 5,500 rpm/750Nm (553lb-ft) of torque @ 4,000 rpm 3. Carried into the Pagani Zonda supercar, orignally held in Mercedes-Benz SL73 AMG and Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR SS 4. No exact awards, but many comments on the engine's smooth power delivery and flexibilty. 5. I love this engine because it's rather old fashioned but employs modern applications. Features a perfect 7,000 rpm valve gear (in Zonda trim) with tons of horsepower but the manic torque to back it up. ![]() Last edited by Bruce; 11-02-2006 at 06:03 PM. |

BMW S70B56 2. 60° 6.1 L V12, 627PS @ 7400rpm, 651Nm @ 5600rpm. Wrapped in gold. 3. Used in the legendary McLaren F1 4. Many and countless compliments. 5. I chose this engine because it's legendary and in my opinion unmatched even to this day, at least the version that sits in the LM version. An engine that is impressive still to this day is a feat in itself. The greatest engine of all time and it's N/A. ![]() ![]() |

Not yet I don't think 5. It's a beast and the fact that they actually made a performance diesel in a production street car. Last edited by Choleric; 11-02-2006 at 07:28 PM. |

Actually i'm unaware of the engine's name 2. 5733cc (573 litres) 10 Cylinders, 90 degree Bore & Stroke: 98.0mm x 76.0mm Compression Ratio: 12.0:1 DOHC, 4VPC, VarioCam 612 PS @ 8,000 rpm/590Nm (435lb-ft) of torque @ 5,750 rpm 3. Fitted only to the Porsche Carrera GT 4. If my memory serves me right this engine won honous by the SAE 5. I love this engine because it orignally was to be in a racing car, but the project failed and was carried into a road car. It's a race car engine fitted to a road car and the result is amazing ![]() |
