![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | About owning a classic car I had my first experience with a true classic car when a friend of dad showed me his fully restored 1939 MB 540K sedan and some other classics like a 1949 Opel and a 1969 Citroen. I am waiting to see a very rare (1 out of 3) citroen DS coupe. This is the man that got me into classics. And know i am looking of buying a classic or restoring one that is in critical condition. I have enough time to spend on that, but not all the needed knowledge when it comes to engines. I also do not know the cost of maintaining such a car. At least it is fulfilling! Anyway, what do you think of that? Is it worth it or not? And would the costs be high enough to make me totally forget this idea? |

![]() ![]() | Re: About owning a classic car I think the idea is great and if I were you I would go for it. As for finances, just do the restoration as you can afford it. I don't have a classic car like the ones you mentioned. But my whole attitude before getting my current car, which is not a new car, was that I had to be able to pay cash for the car, and then it better not cost anything after that. That's how I had always operated before. If I had had any clue what I ended up spending on my current car, I would never have bought it, and never known what I would have missed. And I would have missed on a way of life. I would never have known how much a car can start meaning for one if I had been too cautious. These cars, and even more so the ones that you are thinking of, give back infinitely more than any money that you'll ever put in it. I think you will find that owning a classic car will give you something that a new car, even the most appealing new ones, will never be able to give you. |
