European Car of the Year 2007 contenders announced - Page 2

Later on a short list of 8 cars will be made. My prediction is:

Citroën C4 Picasso
Fiat Grande Punto
Honda Civic
Mini
Nissan Note
Opel Corsa
Peugeot 207
Suzuki SX4/Fiat Sedici

Peugeot 207 is the favorite but Opel Corsa can suprise everyone and win also. The fact that it's sold as Vauxhaul in UK might make Engilsh journalists vote for it.

To tell you the truth if i had to choose an economic small car out of those i would choose the Nissan Note.

a car like CL will never win such awards, its too expensive. I bet a cheaper and a small car wll win this.

Exactly. Cars like the XK, CL and Q7 are OUT OF THE QUESTION. 0% chance of winning for those cars.

That might be true, but didn't the previous CL win some type prestigious design award back in 1999/2000 when it came out? I remember it and the 911 of the day being honored for design by someone?

just check previous winner, you can count with one hand -minus a few fingers all the times an expensive car won a European Car of the Year award. If you betting with money dont put the money on the Benz.

Yeah most of them are hatchbacks or "regular" cars so there goes that idea about the CL. The CL did win something upon introduction though, obviously not this award though, it was strictly about design.
