![]() ![]() | Re: BIG NEWS: Move over Veyron, we may have a new title-holder soon!! this thing doesn't even come close to the Veyron. No way in hell it can be as comfortable as the veyron, yet rip your head of if you want to in the same time. I'm sorry, but the veyron is in a class of it's own. |

Greece is the birthplace of Western civilisation BTW - just so you know. Quote:
It seems we go over the same things over and over. here is a repost from something I said a while ago. from Brand Schizophrenia http://www.germancarzone.com/showpos...0&postcount=27 LAMBORGHINI Only the Italians could create such a car as a Lamborghini (the old ones at least) - the outrageousness of them is something that only an Italian could see any logic in. Visibility and practicality are of absolutely no concern to a Lamborghini fanatic. The new Lamborghinis are technically better than ever, but I can't help feeling that some of the old magic has been lost under Audi. Somehow, even a gentle influence of German logic seems to have softened the whole image of Lamborghini - don't get me wrong, the Murcielago is a wonderful car, but it just doesn't have that Italian spark of "genius bordering on insanity" that the old cars had - that is now the preserve of Pagani. BUGATTI As much as I admire the Veyron, to me you simply cannot resurrect history (as DCX are finding out with Maybach). The rarefied world Ettore Bugatti lived in was far more elegant and dignified than anything that exists today - a world of connoisseurs, craftsmanship, and art. The Bugattis built in Molsheim in the 1920's and 30's were the products of passion, exquisite taste and most of all, love. Ettore Bugatti was a man of his time and his vehicles were the ultimate automotive expression of high-culture in their time. Sadly today, this context simply cannot be recreated - far too much has changed. The new Bugattis may be great cars - but the originals are something extraordinarily rare, they are objects of true greatness - the pure expression of engineering as art.

I've grabbed a coupe pictures from my album. See if they help any. ![]() ![]() I just don't understand why so many people hate this car with such a passion. It can't be because of the people who like this car (yes, a few are trolls, but I hope I've proved to you that people can actually like this car without hating everything else the world makes). Is it because the world is so polarized on it's looks that they don't bother looking beyond the skin? Maybe it helps to think of the Veyron as sledgehammer. It has a comfortable, rubberized grip and is balanced perfectly, making it very easy to hammer something into the ground. And think of the S7 as a cement filled metal pipe, with a hunk of thick, heavy metal welded to the end. It's rude, it's crude, but it's hideously effective when you use it. In the end, both the sledge and the hackjob do the same task, however, the manner in which it's done is different a thousand-fold.

The saleen's design does seem a bit derivative to me - I don't see much about it that makes me think "America" at all. The rear has an uncanny resemblance to a Lamborghini Diablo and that rear overhang reminds me of the Jaguar XJ220, in fact the whole vehicle is vaguely reminiscent of the Jaguar XJ220. |
