Re: Recent cars with the greatest character.

Yeah, while I like all the cars you guys are posting, I'm just not sure if they all have real character - the Phantom for example, you guys know how much I like it, and it does have some character no doubt about it. I just wonder if it's boldness, size, and audacity, give it a commanding pressence more than real character.

To me, character is something unique, something expressive and special about that particular car. The Phantom is very special and exclusive etc., and I really love it, but it still lacks a certain feeling of authenticity about it somehow. The Bentley Arnage, on the other hand, is the real deal.

Hmmmm, as tempting as that sounds Just_me, I just don't think I'm ready for the commitment, and I'm almost certain that Martinbo is already taken sadly.

Jealousy makes you nasty. Don't worry Just_me, you're still my favourite bey.... whoa! Let's not go down that road again. I'd hate to ruin a perfectly brilliant thread.

Right, back on topic...

I got real close to one of these yesterday and for me it's just the berries when it comes to character. Yes, its ugly. Yes, it has more protuberances than a warthog. Yes, it has an aerofoil bigger than the wing of a light plane.

But I don't care because this car's road presence is simply massive:

Just_me, kudos for posting the pics of my favourite 7er, the exceptionally distinctive pre-facelift E65 7er. That car has such an intriguing combination of form in its entirety and detail elements in isolation. I love the "grumpy grandpa" droopy eyes and the smooth, simple contours of the lower front valance.

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo and RR Sport have bags of character too imo.

Saw my first M6 yesterday, in black. It has presence, sure, but it lacks the character of the M5.

And laugh all you will but this car (and I drove it for the first time on Friday) just exudes unashamed, unapologetic, in-your-face character, oh, and it goes like stink too:
