Here's one more of my nature-themed pics. I promise I'll come up with something else for next week's competition.

Why don't you take out rule number 8. Using PS on your image is silly. That shouldn't be allowed.

When you shoot images in RAW format somekind of RAW editor is necessary to process the images properly. PS is one of those. If this was film competion would you rule out the darkroom...?

This is a photo competition and as such demands the best that the entrants can produce...post processing is an integral part of digital photography today.

Sorry I didn't realise that. I have a 5.0 megapixel digital cam and simply upload the pics I take with them to the internet. But I guess you have to do something more with them to make them as pretty as the ones you make. I was thinking more about enhancing the photo with photoshop, that would be wrong

No problem klier...but even with your 5 MP camera, the settings can be adjusted in the camera to alter the outcome or you can have neutral settings and fix the image in an editor. Enhancement is a tough term...by using an editor you try to enhance the elements the camera captured and you attempt to have the image reflect what you saw.

If you shoot jpg (which your camera does) then the image is enhanced in the camera, again by selecting settings for the exposure, etc. When you shoot RAW, the image is a dump of all the data the camera captures and then you enhance that data to come up with a finished image. You can adjust the camera settings in RAW also so the picture looks good when you download it but that defeats the advantage of shooting in RAW format. File size for jpg may be 3-5 megabytes, whereas RAW file size may be 7-10 megabytes.

Rightfully so, ZONDA has ruled out special effects.
