I like this, it seems the Phaeton is slowly becoming a serious VIP vehicle ...while many silly people look on in amazement and wonder "why would anybody buy a VW over a Mercedes?"

The V8 was 1st introduced when Phaeton was released in Nth America entry, so 2-3yrs ago

Yep will come out when facelift is introduced, also expect 3.0 TDI with 171kW, 3.6 V6 206kW, 4.2 V8 TDI (replaces V10).

W12 will not be upgraded as far as I can predict from media

The Phaeton was immediately a car for German VIPs almost from day one. One must wonder if this was natural or the mechanism of a visibility campaign - either way, the who's who of Germany were being driven in Phaetons almost overnight.

That's something I really appreciate about German leanings - understatement is valued almost as much as urban America values flair. A8s were universally the default car for government officials, but the Phaeton allowed way to crank up the percieved humility yet another notch.

So much for the most powerful diesel passenger car in the world - what was wrong with the V10? It didn't meet emission requirements?

Sorry, but 7er with it's V8 and 330hp holds that title... At least untill Audi drops their V12 TDI in A8...
