VW Phaeton: 1000th Phaeton for Korea

The VW Phaeton is celebrating a small, but very impressive anniversary: the production of the 1000th VW Phaeton for Korea!
Why is that impressive, because the market introduction was just one year ago.

Seems like Koreans love the VW Phaeton. Korea is already the most important export market for the VW Phaeton.

Wow. I didn't see that one coming. Wonder what the reason for its success there is. Personally I have recently spotted my 2nd ever Phaeton here...

That's true. VW sells a couple each year here in Greece. Of course the best seller is S class with a little less than a hundrend sold each year.

Well actually S Korea seems to have an apetite for big german sedan.
It is one of the reasons of the succes of the E65 7er.
SK is actually the 5th largest &er market last time I checked andd BMWs best seller.
Again, last time I checked.

i've seen my first ever flying spur today, that one and ahalf phaetons technically, my first and last phaeton ever was at the beirut motor show last year (or was it the one before? memory sucks)

I've only seen one Phaeton on the roads, but have seen scores of Bentley Continental GTs and Flying Spurs!

How many Phaetons have bee sold overal?

It's such a good car for such an excellent price....maybe the South Koreans' are able to do what so many others are not: see beyond the badge.

I was going to say just that, they must not care that it is merely a "VW".

I just wonder would have happened if the Phaeton had been a success all over the world.

They've sold a mere 140 of them YTD in the U.S. for 2006, down 53 percent from 2005.
