No offense to Americans, but it seems made for that country, where someone, somewhere, wants a sports version of everything, and where 'just-so' isn't quite distinctive enough. It also echoes the Passat R-GT concept from SEMA, an American tuner show.

It's not bad as it is, but I'd never buy such a thing for, of all cars, a Passat. It's not a completely bad drive, apparently, but neither is it something I'd class as sporty - don't give it mouth it can't back up with legs.

The darkened grille's not too bad though - but might have worked better with a darker coloured car.

The first thing they should have done is ditch those skinny all weather tires.
