My feelings are mixed. First i liked it in the photos, then in real life i didn't like it but now after seeing a couple in the right colors (grey and black) i 'm starting to like it again.
The Passat is something like a poor man's A6.

I feel the same way Yannis. I loved the car when the first pics were issued, but then seeing it on the street it looks too bulbous and rounded, and the side profile is a little iffy. The chrome strip is pointing downward a little to much to my eye sometimes.

Then I went and looked at the car and it retained its title as the best family car on the market (U.S.).

In the photos the front looks bloated and the lights unimaginative but in real life the hood is long and given the width and the length of the car the result is satisfying.
My main problem is the shape of the rear door which looks like it was taken from a BMW and it's completely un-VW-ish.

I really really really do not like this car

The shapes of it are just wrong. The front is the only thing that looks good.

Black is the right color for the new Passat. I saw again one today with 18 inch rims and chrome and it looked very nice.

Have you guys seen this IRL? It doesn't look bad at all. I wouldn't say "stunning", but it does the job well of keeping up the name of a boring, run-of-the-mill Passat that is universally loved.
