![]() | Re: Nice VW Passat wallpapers. IMHO, cars designed in Germany (or Japan or wherever) then built somewhere else don't necessarily suffer from poorer build quality, but sometimes they do. It's much harder these days to equate, for example, German engineering with 'made in Germany'. Even if it was built somewhere else, e.g. South Africa, my 'German' car could well be just as good. I guess I can't complain about that, when the prices are made a bit more affordable in some way, within reason. As for Japanese vw. German, I think that Japanese cars are of excellent build quality, and very reliable. Where the Germans and other Europeans excel is with perhaps slightly better materials (but I can't say for certain that VW materials are better than the equivalently priced Japanese car), often in the way the design is resolved in whole, and especially the small details - such as air conditioning vents on the rear of the centre console, lighting for front footwells and separate reading lights for the rear passengers, extra tying-points or compartments in the boot, that sort of small thing that pleases car enthusiasts with an eye for detail, but don't really add much to marketability of the car. That said, I have a VW on my desktop right now - a Golf GTI. I don't mind having 'cheap' but desirable and realistically attainable cars on my desktop. Passat isn't so desirable, IMO, but hey, maybe for some it is. |

numb pedals long gears Very soft spirngs (personal favourite) not that great feeling from steering wheel e.t.c But, i like it. I was the first to order the facelifted version here in Greece. On 12 July Volvo announced that they would not import any more prefacelifted models, and on 14 July (13 was Tuesday) i placed my order! I had ordered a pre fc. before but my order was cancelled as it was not produced anymore! There are no more than 5/10 S60s in Patras, so i feel unique. I don't like sport cars. I am a sedan-fanboy. I prefer this kind of cruiser (S60) than a sport saloon (A4, 3er). I have driven them both and i find them sporty, but i choose comfort over sportness. And i prefer to have a "strange" car, that almost everybody asks me what an S60 is, and, believe me, i love to answer this kind of questions. 2) A friend of mine (one of the bests) has an 1.8T A4 and recently got a 1.6FSI Golf. I have test driven these cars and i can say that Golf is a great car to have as a second! I would definitely suggest it! Maybe it will be the next car for me to buy (next spring) PS. I would definitely choose a Touareg over an S60. Even an S60R! PS. here is my current wallpaper. It is not that bad. I actually like the colours used: - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER Quote:
I find myself some times to be immature!... But i will keep that S60 as a wallpaper ![]() Quote:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Nice VW Passat wallpapers. Maybe, but I think nowadays the Japanese pays far more attention than VW does on its products. I remember in one Top Gear review of the Passat, J.C. said that ' The Passat looked like it was designed while its top directors were having sex scandals', or something along those lines. Something that isn't too good, I'm sure about that though. His review gives a feeling that VW didn't put the Passat together well enough. But thinking about it again, the top brass mismanagement may have lead to the problems at VW. Remember the product releases in the US? Extremely poor marketing, and shipment/stock of cars lead to some customers waiting months for thier Jetta or Golf to come. Let's not even go to the Phaeton. Already, dealerships are few and far in between and the VW brand doesn't even command any premium, except maybe being the 'hipster' brand. And yet, prices of VWs car markedly higher than highly competitive, aggressive and certainly just as capable, Japanese counterparts. Maybe once this scandal is cleared up and Bernhard gets a good management team together then the situation will improve. In Europe however, everything is in order, and VW delivers there by the thousands, if not in hundreds of thousands of VWs every year. You know, it is not entirely impossible that the QC manager at VW was also involved in one of the scandals - so much so that he just approves every damn thing that comes to his table. The E46 we have comes from South Africa and it had a few minor problems so far. I'd expect more if it came from Germany, but no major problems so far. I would most certainly have a VW at my desktop. A Golf GTI, or a R32 certainly makes the mark as being leaders of its class. |
