Snake Vargas will become famous soon enough
Re: New Opel GT coming to Geneva

I expect the VX220's been dropped. I'm not a huge fan of the GT/Saturn Sky, nor the Pontiac Solstice (which I think is a rebodied Sky/GT). It looks a little lumpy in some wrong places, and the rear lights are goofy. But overall, ok.

The VX220 had decent speed, handling and nice enough looks at a good price. What can the new one do that the VX220/Speedster couldn't?

I hoped Holden would bring the VX220 here. However, with this GT, I couldn't really care less.

Wohoo it's nice to see Detroit DNA everywhere. This car is a freaking mini Vette.

Re: New Opel GT coming to Geneva

I saw the Saturn Sky (which looks exactly the same) in the metal a few ago, and much to my surprise it looked really good (for its class). Pricing was that of a MX5 Miata (which looked likecrap compared to the Sky).

Re: New Opel GT coming to Geneva

The thing that bugs me about the appearance of this car is the badge engineering. With the Speedster/VX220 they at least made it look different from the Elise. If they had come up with this before the American version my only gripe would be the taillight design which doesn't suit the car.

Re: New Opel GT coming to Geneva

I think it looks pretty good. GM's plan to kill off the current Saturn product range with rebadged Opel replacements couldn't have come any quicker.

I'm sure the Sky will be a hit for Saturn, and will mark a positive turning point for the brand in NA.

Opel has revealed the price of the new GT at the Geneva Motor Show (March 2-12, 2006) – the new edition of the legendary sports car will be available from 29,900 euro. “Apart from stunning design, the Opel GT offers more thrills for the money than any other high-performance roadster”, says Alain Visser, Executive Director, European Marketing Opel/Vauxhall. Deliveries of the two-seater, which features classic rear-wheel drive and a fully-retractable fabric roof, will begin in spring 2007. “But customers who want to be one of the first owners can already reserve a GT at their Opel dealer now.” Thanks to its powerful 2.0-liter, 260 hp ECOTEC turbo engine with gasoline direct injection the Opel GT accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in less than six seconds, and reaches a top speed of more than 230 km/h.
