So basically this will be a modern remake of the MkI GTI? Looks interesting but it's gonna be a niche product.

I'm scared even to think what would people do here in my country with this car if it was sold here...

Re: (South Africa) 2006 Citi R-line @ Auto Africa

I was at Auto Africa, and this car is a real piece of work
1.8i with 90kw and uprated brakes!
Sells for R114 000, which makes it about 12 200 Euro

If the 1.6i is any measure to go by (9,6sec), this model should have a 0 - 100km/h in around 8 seconds, maybe less.

The only criticism I have of this car is the puny intake for the airbox, I could only fit two fingers into it. First thing I would do is swap that airbox for a cone filter or an induction kit.

Yes there's something locally appealing about the Good ol' Citi Golf - it's definitely a South African icon now. I like the idea of this "spiritual successor" to the best selling CTi... (I was mad about that car as a student!)

Btw - how awesome was Auto Africa? Excellent...

Oh and another thing: WELCOME !!!!

Fun trivia:
Did you know that South Africa is the only country in the world that is still producing the first and latest generation Golf at the same time?

Good to see a good contingent (sp) of South African GCZ members here

So how long will the Citi last is my next question

Quick Q has the Caddy Bakkie had the Citi facelift yet ?

Re: (South Africa) 2006 Citi R-line @ Auto Africa

Cool, retro, last gasp for the 80's i suppose. Dated? Perhaps. But in a way its a pretty neat car and if the price is right along with "pleasure of driving" factor it could be quite the package...Coolness, Love the idea.

It would also be cool if rover rebuilt their defender 110, how sick would that be.
