Ok, now I understand why many of you say it reminds you of Dodge Charger.

I just noticed that Z8 also had 4 switches situated in similar place:

That's what the Z-whatever number is going to bring to the table. This is another concept which we've been hearing about for a while now. I love how bold this thing is. This car was never meant to be beautiful like an Alfa. But I believe it has some charm to it. Looking forward to see real life pictures from the auto show.

Re: BMW unveiled "Concept CS" !

I hate the upright pig-nose grille. It's not proportional .

I hope that on the production model, BMW sort it out that broken line that rises over the rear wheel arch until the rear door. It looks like it's been ripped straight off a Dodge Charger.

That said, however, I like everything else. The profile, specially, looks very good, the wheels, the rear-end is nice and I even like the interior.

But why BMW Concepts are generally so fugly???

Re: BMW unveiled "Concept CS" !

You guys who are bashing it are out of focus. This is not a production car, it's an concept cars. When you judge a concept car you need to study it for a little while to really understand what it is all about and try to find hidden messages. Some concept tell you just about everything a manufacturer has in store for the next coming years in terms of design and innovation.

So what do I think of it. The rear is simply splendid and it is all thanks to the deeper flame surface and like Josh mentioned this is Flame Surface V2.0. Lets face it, the current bimmers aren't as shocking and edgy like the 7er and 5er was when they hit the shows rooms. Flame surface is use by lots of manufacturers today so a new evolution can't come too soon.

As an Z8 fan the first thing I noticed with the interior is that the center console resembles the Z8 but my question was "Where the hell is the iDrive screen?". iDrive and the BMW badge are inseparable but Eni mentioned earlier in the thread that HUD is a part of BMWs future, but I'm very curious to see how they'll make something good out of that because I wouldn't want to use a HUD during day light in nevada.

What's most interesting about this concept is the shape of the car. Yes it is a coupe but a very different one from those we are used to. It is a Coupe Sedan!! Very weird but it is what it is, and there is not anything like it. I find it very interesting how manufacturers approach different concept in their own ways. Look at the following:

BMW CS = Coupe Sedan

Panamera = Coupe Hatch-Back

CLS = Coupe Coupe

Overall I'm very pleased by the Concept and am eager to see what BMW has in store for the next years, they are the main design leaders in the industry. I dig the big new kidneys as well. They do the same job as Audi's single frame grill, make the car look very aggressive.

Re: BMW unveiled "Concept CS" !

i beg o differ, the panamera si still an unknown variable
and had it not been for the roof line, the CLS is as square a sedan as can be
notice something
if you wipe out door shutline on a CLS, you get an aweful design
wipe out shut lines on this thing or on a rapide, it's still a clean design

no if anything, and if i am going to succumb to oxymoronic appellations, i would say that the CLS is a sedan with coupe profile, the rapide and CS coupes with 4 doors
but i still don't buy the marketing, whether or not BMW did it

these are sedans with sexy design
we can though vary the interpretation of this design

maybe if i was getting a paycheck from bmw i would buy the marketing a bit more
but nonetheless this design is a BOMB

Red face Re: BMW unveiled "Concept CS" !

I always thought "CLS" was meant for:

Coupé-Like-Saloon

Guess I was wrong then.

BMW CS Concept (April 2007):

Huckfeldt's X6 impression (March 2005):

LSC (F5) by Huckfeldt (May 2006):

Z2 by Huckfeldt (July 2006):

New Z4 (E89) by Huckfeldt:

RFK V5 (F5) by Huckfeldt (2004):

Huck used almost identical elements on his CGIs as now seen on official CS Concept.
