Favourite Decade of Music?

A straight forward question. Arguably, you could say I shouldn't include the current decade because it isn't even through, but I'm sure more than a few people would miss it ...

So then, what has been your favourite decade of music? A simple "70's" will suffice, although I'd appreciate a little insight on your choice. Which particular bands made it your favourite? Includes video's if you like

Re: Favourite Decade of Music?

The 1980's are my favourite decade for many reasons. While there was a lot of crap in this era, there was also a lot of brilliance.

For starters, it was the peak for my favourite band (Rush) and through those ten years they kept producing amazing albums and songs. Ex.

Mystic Rhythms - 1985

Subdivisions- 1982

Afterimage - 1984

Aside from Rush, the 1980's is my favourite decade for music because of bands like: The Fixx, English Beat, Tom Cochrane, U2, Peter Gabriel, The Police, A-ha, YES and many more.

English Beat - Too Nice To Talk To You - 1980

The Fixx - Red Skies - 1987

The Fixx - One Thing Leads to Another - 1983

Talking Heads - Once in A Lifetime - 1983

The Police - Every Little Thing She Does is Magic - 1981

The Police - Invisible Sun - 1981

Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms - 1985

Dire Straits - Money For Nothing - 1985

A-ha - Take on Me - 1985

Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer - 1986

U2 - With or Without You - 1987

U2 - Where the Streets Have No Name - 1987

Tom Cochrane - Big League - 1989

Re: Favourite Decade of Music?

Here are a few other 80's bands I like but didn't mention in my post above.

YES - Owner of A Lonely Heart - 1983

Thompson Twins - Hold Me Now - 1984

Thompson Twins - Doctor! Doctor! - 1984

Simple Minds - Don't You Forget About Me - 1985

Billy Idol - Rebel Yell - 1982

Billy Idol - Eyes Without A Face - 1982

That's enough from me tonight. See ya tomorrow!

Re: Favourite Decade of Music?

meh, the 80's, after the 60's, I'd have to go with the 70's. predominatly because of Led Zeppelin and than the 90's or 2000's because of Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Audioslave.

Re: Favourite Decade of Music?

After the 80's, I'd go with the 70's: Neil Young, Dire Straits, James Taylor, America, Black Sabbath, Heart, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and yet again, Rush.

^ Holy...and many more which I did not list.

Re: Favourite Decade of Music?

90's definitely! Since i'm a fan of so-called brutal usic, the best era were the 90's. Before that, 90% of the bands that i like didn't even exist.

Re: Favourite Decade of Music?

The 1980s closely followed by the 1970s.
