i have a feeling they will. there is no way of dialing a number on the iphone without looking at the screen. when i'm driving i can simply feel which button to press to speed dial someone (ie. for voicemail, hold down 1). not a big issue, but something that probably will keep buttons around for awhile longer. i hear samsung is developing tactile feedback for touchscreens, apparently it will give you a very mild/gentle shock every time you glide your finger over the buttons on the screen, i'm really interested to see how that will turn out.

Dude, I use it! But that's just because I'm given free MMSes each month, and GPRS is just freaking expensive.

Yeah, I prefer a proper keypad too.

If I'm not mistaken, iChat is supported by this phone. If it runs like like its computer-based sibling then the lack of MMS is a non-issue.

On the other hand - with full-fledged browser capability, who cares? There's 20 different end-runs around the lack of MMS.

yep the lack of MMS is not a big issue..and there is probably a reason behind it not being there also.. its not like its an advanced thing..its been around for ages..

about the keypad thingy.. your right guys you need to look at your screen..
i have the P990i i use it without the keypad.. (i push the screen like the iphone)
but it really isnt a issue..its just something you get used to..
i use my fingers on the P990 and i feel that it works kinda well..
and bare in mind that the P990 touch screen sucks arse..its supposed to be used with a stylus.. heck it doesent even recognize the stylus postion sometimes..lol

Exactly. Here in Sweden just about everyone can send free MMS these days. It's a easy and efficient ways of sending pictures to friends.

the iphone has ichat? never knew. the articles i've read in the past states that there is no ichat, but i guess those might be dated and irrelevant by now. my guess is that you'll be able to get it work through some hacks, but it probably won't be easy, after all, why would at&t let it kill sms revenues?

That's a good question. On the other hand, AT&T are charing rates for data transfer, so if you send photos and/or video via iChat, you'll be charged for the bandwidth.

I think when all is said and done, being able to sell large amounts of mobile bandwidth trumps potentially lost SMS revenues.
