Current MINI Cooper S has supercharger engine not turbo.

New Cooper S comes with twin scroll single turbo engine. Yes, it's one turbocharger with twin scroll tech.

Twin-scroll: the ducts in the exhaust manifold and the turbocharger are separated from one another in each case for two cylinders - this enables the engine to capitalise on the dynamic action of the gas columns pulsating within the manifold. This results in better response by the turbocharger - with its turbine building up optimum momentum right from the start at lower rpm.
Charge pressure is limited to 0.8 bar and starts to build up at 1,400 rpm - virtually eliminating the “turbo gap. So the new engine shows the kind of response you would expect in a much larger NA engine.

It's the same engine as in 207 GT, but with different settings:
207 GT: 150HP, 244Nm peak
Cooper S: 175HP, 260Nm peak

As far as appearance is concerned, the only change appears to be the bumpers. I don't think they will change the overall appearance of it too much because BMW have essentially created a car with cult status; they will want to maintain that. Drastic changes could jeopardize the strong image of the car.

Why do you think they've destroyed it? Than you can say that Porsche destroyed the new 997 because it's almost the same car with only small difference in the headlights...

As you wish , but i don't think there's any single reason as far as the design is concerned to say that this car has been destroyed.

I agree. The first one looked quite nice. So far this one looks a bit like a sad cartoon car.

The technical specifications sound very good though.

Mind that the cars in the pics are still masked, and that yellow color is the reason for cartoonish look.
