The S65 and S63 will be sold side by side. I wouldn't worry about the ride quality of the S65 AMG, it is still an S-Class. I'd guess it probably rides better than the S63 since the S63 is the sportiest S of them all dynamically.

Damn AMG has a lot of cars. I'll take a SL55 and CL63 myself.

Re: AutoBild - AMG Super Test

Translations!

They weren't as detailed as I'd hoped. So here are some quick references to the various cars.

G55 AMG: The nightmare off every offroad enthusiast. Extremely fast, like a Porsche. On the Autobahn, one has to wonder if this thing can go any faster (200 km/h+). Probably or probably not. The coefficiency of drag limits the top speed performance of the G55 AMG. Back in the late 70s, the base 72-hp diesel 240GD was good for 117 km/h.

SL55 AMG: A very fast sporty GT cruiser. Comfortable and aggressive and brutal once the pedal is mashed. From 0-200 km/h, the SL55 AMG is unstoppable. From 200 km/h onwards, it slows down a bit. This car surprised us with its handling qualities. Confident and responsive, make for plenty of driving fun.

SLK55 AMG: Cheaper than the SL55 AMG, but just as much fun and even better in regards to handling. The steering is direct and the lighter weight means the car never runs out of steam, no matter what speed you're driving at. Fun car. The cockpit is a little cramped though.

C55 AMG sedan and estate: The driving experience of the SLK cannot be matched by the C55 AMG. Despite a 367-hp V8, the C55 AMG and C55 AMG T remain comfortable cruising cars with a tornado of power at their disposal. The C55's are less at home on the racetrack, but feel more like cars meant for long distance driving with the family.

E63 AMG: One of the newest AMG's, the E63 AMG is an impressive machine. Unlike the older E55 AMG, it accelerates with less brutallity, but with the manners of a gentleman. The acceleration is smooth, fast and despite the lack of a Kompressor, still somewhat brutal. Even though the torque ratings have gone down compared to the E55, the electronic systems and wheels still struggle to help the car put all that power down on the road. Difficult to control on wet roads. On dry roads, the E63 AMG is everything a sports sedan should be. The suspension is sturdier, the steering is direct and the 2-ton car feels agile and "light".

S63 AMG: The heavier S63 AMG won't be as agile as the E63 AMG, but it comes with 525-horsepower, which help, a little. Despite this, we found the S-Class AMG to be very agile and easy to control. Handling was impressive for such a large and heavy car. The ABC suspension aids handling and comfort. In fact, you cannot help but feel relaxed inside the big S-Class. The standard massage seats also help to relax the driver. Think of the car as a sporty and comfortable sofa on wheels ( ).

ML63 AMG: Heavier than the S-Class with 2.3-tons is the ML63 AMG. No problem for the 6.3 V8, it's got the power. 4.9 seconds from 0-100 km/h is enough to silence the critics. We hear the ML63 AMG should also be capable offroad, but we didn't take it there.

R63 AMG: If the ICE is late again, why not hop into an R63 AMG and drive to your destination yourself? The R-Class is the perfect long-distance family caravan, but in AMG form, is rather useless. Despite the power, we didn't find the R63 AMG sporty. Even with more power, it wouldn't become sporty. The heavy car makes the ML63 AMG appear like a well-handling car. Overall visibility isn't that great and the enormous size of the LWB version makes driving it a pain and requires full concentration on the drivers part - wherever you go.

Have to go eat now. The rest coming up when I am done.

It's not really described as the "best handler", but more like a good handling qualities for a car of this size and weight.

Working on the other translations now!

Re: AutoBild - AMG Super Test

So in other words, none of these cars (other than the SLK55) are ideally suited for track use, which is not a suprise and is consistent with previous reviews from many different magazines. All of them, however, are powerful ROAD cars that can carry passengers with reasonable comfort.

Thanks wimmer for the brief translations!

I think they might be waiting for the new M3 to arrive before they do any such thing.
