Mercedes-Benz Customer Center "Museum" Sindelfingen (sorta...)

I just thought I'd post these old shots from around Spring 2002 when my bestfriend Anton and I checked out the MB Customer Center & Factory in Sindelfingen, Stuttgart. There was a small "museum" and souvenir shop there where we took most of the pictures.

Sadly, picture taking was prohibited inside the factory but the tour was awesome. On that fateful day, we saw how they made the C-Class and C-Class Sportcoupes. This was my second visit to the place, but nonetheless interesting stuff.

Customer Center

C-Class customer picking up his new C-Class (pre-facelift as you can see...)

Anton posing with an R129 500SL that looks just like my dad's, sans the AMG rims.

300SL Roadster in Ivory White: me and Anton were drooling over this thing!

Posing with a hot CL500 and AMG rims and bodykit!

Me posing with my back-then dream car, the C208 CLK!

The R220 SL was the sensation back then. It had basically come out a few weeks or months ago so seeing one here just killed us!

SL Generations

We talked with this dude, he owned the G-Class and just bought himself a CL500! And here he is picking it up himself with a borrowed MB trailer-bed!

In the onsite bus, a brand new R220 SL drove by! Me and Anton were having a heart-attack!

Anyone recognize this? A W211 E-Class right? Big deal. But back then, it wasn't. Back then, this was the brand new E-Class, hardly revealed to the public yet and we saw it here! A few weeks later, my dad phoned me in college to tell me that he had placed an order for a W211 E-Class as our new family car!

Wandering the lots, we spotted this beauty!

Since the factory is nearby, there's also a railway to bring the new products to the seaports for export or dealerships. I spotted a lot of US-spec MB's in that train (you can tell by the orange reflector lamps upfront).

Hope you guys liked them!

Nice! Also interesting to get a peek of the surroundings. Never been to the Stuttgart area (I believe Sindelfingen is a little distance southwest? from there). Definitely need to get there to see it one day.

Wow! Thanks a lot for sharing Chris. I've got to check out this place before I die. I see that you seen the W211 E-Class before it was released, did you see any test mules?

I met a German couple who were visiting New York the other day and they told me they're from Stuttgart (she corrected my pronunciation and I still couldn't say it right LOL). I told them I'll go there one day to see the MB plant there. She said she used to work there and it was an awesome place to work at. She highly recommended I visit it one day.

Excellent memory buddy! They had the F200 Imagination (the joystick car) in that special lime green color there and some various displays about safety (when I visited). I look forward to going there again sometime, and this time with my new camera and 256 MB smart media card, I can take more pictures.

I also visited Zuffenhausen, home of PORSCHE. Anton and I toured the museum but couldn't get a factory tour because you had to place these months in advance. I also visited AMG in Affalterbach with my bestfriend and we saw the disguised versions of the:

W211 E55 AMG
C209 CLK55 AMG
W168 A36 Twin

And a lot of S and CL63 AMG (6.3-l V12, 444-hp), a rare edition model! Will post ASAP!
