Re: Maybach Sales Figures?

Just another note - the US sales goal for Maybach was 500 cars per annum.

244 were sold in 2004, 152 in 2005 and approximately 115 in 2006.

Re: Maybach Sales Figures?

According to Autdata (not official figures by carmakers!) 360 Phantoms were sold in US in 2006 (increase of +50%), while according to Autodata Maybach sold 180 vehicles (while MB official figures state 146 Maybachs were sold in 2006 in US).

Other then that the MM is kind of a bastard, an unwanted child. Looking at it you can clearly see that MB didn't put in alot of effort designing and developing the car. We all know MB, if they really want to develop a striking car they do it, just look at the S, CL, CLS and SLR.
The MM on the other hand seem to be a quick 1-2 years project. The use of S-class w220 platform, compotents and interior part made is very economical for MB to develop the MM. There is no passion behind the car and the use of the MM brand has been nothing but a waste. I hope that Mercedes has succesor ont he way which deserves the MM brand. Untill then the sales figures will keep on tumbling. For 350k people expect nothing but a magestic and perfect car which looks like a million bucks. What has been going on the latest year is that people who own MMs have sold them bought themselves a Phantom.

Yep it was the rush job from changing it from a Mercedes to a Maybach that killed the car. The original concept was a Mercedes at the 1996 or 1997 Tokyo auto show. Actually they use the W140 S-Class chassis hence the codename W240 for the Maybach. There is no way they could have got the Maybach's level of build from the W220 chassis/interior etc, sad to say. The W220 just wasn't built like a proper Mercedes.

Re: Maybach Sales Figures?

Interesting Figures, i saw a light blue Maybach 62 in the show room, and it didn't impress me at all. It is big, but it didn't look or feel special. I saw a silver RR phantom on the road, and that really look impressive. I am sure the Maybach is a nice car, but a normal S-class is equally nice as well. The problem is the Maybach is still too similar to a normal Mercedes, however there is nothing like an RR on the road right now.

Australian sales figures 1 Maybach, 19 RR in 2006.

Re: Maybach Sales Figures?

Well these sales figures aren't really so bad when you put them into perspective. After all, the Maybach's predecessor, the 600, sold 2190 units over its 18-year production lifespan ...and the Phantom VI sold 374 units over a 23-year production lifespan.

I guess when if you look it at that way the Maybach and Rolls are selling like hotcakes. If only the DCX board looked it that way...lol!

Re: Maybach Sales Figures?

Official Mercedes Car Group press release states "around 400" units of Maybach were sold in 2006 worldwide.

(PS: Rolls-Royce 2006 worldwide sales were "around 800". Official figures on Monday.)

Re: Maybach Sales Figures?

So in other words they're selling the amount worldwide that they wanted to sell in the U.S. alone. That is not good, a clean 60 percent below what they wanted to do worldwide.
