![]() ![]() | Re: Is A Compact Version Of The Maybach Coming? But Alex, Maybach already has two sedans on the market one normal wheelbase the other limo like. The next logical step is to make a coupe or cabrio. Saturating the market with a bunch of sedans will do no good for the Maybach brand especially with the dire straits they are in at the moment. |

![]() ![]() | Re: Is A Compact Version Of The Maybach Coming? I don't know how much the Bentleys cost but if the MM 51 would be in their price range I would not see anything strange with this strategy. Mercedes and Bentley are in different weight divisions even though the most expensive Mercedes' are in that price range. Provided they'd be a bit more creative with the shape and looks, I would like this idea very much. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Is A Compact Version Of The Maybach Coming? Weird how they have changed the size, all I have heard is it's going to be called a 53! I'm sure this car could find a market, as shown by there being an Audi A8 and Bentley Flying Spur! Although I think this 53 will be much more expensive than the Flying Spur, or it will be too close to the S class on pricing! I can see owners of S600s and S65s upgrading for more money because they would want something more exclusive! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Is A Compact Version Of The Maybach Coming? That could work Lu. Daimler-Chrysler almost created a brand by accident with the Maybach. Originally the Maybach was intended to be one "top-of-the-line" model, the Mercedes Maybach. Now, because they chose to resurrect the Maybach brand, they face a strange situation where they want to expand the range of vehicles that technically compete with Mercedes-Benz. The CL, for instance might be cheaper than Bentley GT, Ferrari 612, or Rolls-Royce Corniche, but it still actually is a competitor in that market -- and out-sells it's competitors (and not just because of it's price). Maybach makes things a little bit messy for Mercedes in my opinion -- I think Maybach should remain as a single model, the top limousine -- leave the super coupes and SUVs to Mercedes. Why would DCX build the MM Exelero [for example] when Mercedes-Benz have the SLR -- it just doesn't make a lot of sense. |
