I say the same. If the support of the US is the only thing that's preventing Israel and its people from being eradicated, then I'm all for it. It seems that almost everyone else, to a greater or lesser extent, feels antipathy towards Israel - and, I'm purely guessing here - including Europe? - if just because they are themselves disinclined to support anything the US is so inclined towards.

If terrorists in Lebanon have kidnapped soldiers, then the Israeli government should probably try to get them back by peaceful means. I assume they tried that, and also getting the Lebanese government to do something themselves, and had no success. The choices then were to do nothing, or to do it yourself, whether covertly or overtly. I guess they just decided to go all in.

If they had continued to do nothing then I wouldn't be surprised if more kidnappings occurred. A rock and a hard place.

My heart goes out to all of the Lebanese people that have no part in these acts of terrorism. and the surrounding countrys are not all peace loving..there are very few countrys that are.. the US is certainly not a peace loving nation..

you cant just labell a nation or a group of persons CRAZY and MAD before you think about why they want the things they want..and do the things they do..

Remember that in the last arab-israelian wars the Israeli war machine defeated all of its opponents.
It was the UN that saved (particulary) Egypt from utter humiliation in Yom Kippur war.
And before that there was the Six Day war when Israel humiliated its enemies.

Besides Israel has nukes, and before the US could even mobilize to "aid" Israel, its oponets would be turned into nuclear waste lands.

Get this thru your head, there no regional country that can challange the Isreali war machine.
Nor is it in their interest.

Besides, how many inocent people has Hizbollah killed ?!

What you have to understand is that there are 2 crack head sides.

I agree, and it's something that hard to get through people's heads. The Arab/Israli conflict isn't just a matter of "good guys vs bad guys." It's a fiasco that's so multifaceted that you could easily spend a year studying the subject and still not know the entire story.

Unfortunately, the man on the street doesn't know, nor has the time to know everything that's in play. From an American vantage point, bad people are blowing up innocent Isralis and the army drops bombs to retaliate. From an Arab perspective, Isreal is hording land that isn't theirs and won't leave them the-f alone.

Barring some kind of awesome technology that prevents terrorists and militant groups from doing their dirty work, there's no end in sight for theis hot/cold cycle of violence. I don't think there's anything particularly new about what's happening right now - it's just like every 20 years or so there's a big earthquake, so goes with Isreal and their neighbors.

The Israeli war machine exists only because of the US not because of the Israeli's own competence, intelligence or military acumen. Talking as if the US and Israeli army's are competely independent is a joke. They are one and the same.

Just having the Arabs except that the Israelis are free to occupy the land and accept that and live with that would be all too easy. That said, peace is a very far fetched idea in the mind of both parties. What will become of this I hate to say, but I hope and pray it's peace without anymore bloodshed... do we all???

Well I don't know if they are one in the same to be very frank with you, but to be honest Israel would not be where it is if it wasn't for the US.

When Nixon was in office he wanted to help Israel during the Arab-Israeli War, however, he made it clear to his administration that he wanted to help them under the table and no one in the public should know. Unfortunately the administraion--or something else-- didn't come into order. So, when the planes from the US were flying to Israel, it flew in clear daylight, rather than at night, and everyone was able to see who was providing the aid(including ammo). If it wasn't for the US the Arabs would have won the war fair and square. Nevertheless, the Israeli's were equipped with the best of the best and therefore basically shot at the Arabs just like the Americans did with the Native Americans.
