I really don't understand how can a gay marriage, or any public gay activity effect heterosexual marriage / activity ...

It's like saying interracial marriage is unnatural & dangerous etc. And it once was so. Or eg. cohabitation / heterosexual relationships outside the institute of marriage etc. Also once "not appropriate". Not to say children born in such relationship were stigmatized, and even labeled as "bastards" etc. Or sometimes ago the only true marriage was arranged marriage. Inbreeding within social classes. etc.

So, every such tectonic change in interpersonal relationships - in a public sphere - faces opposition from majority / mainstream groups, or even some very vocal extremist minorities. That's normal ... But it's a responsibility of a state to provide all its citizens essential rights. And a responsibility of media to promote human rights, and tolerance. Unfortunately today states try to deny some people some rights, and media spread intolerance & hate. That's just wrong. But I guess media say what sells, and politicians do what brings them votes.

I have some gay & lesbian friends ... And none of them affect my relationship with my GF. We socialize together, and it's very OK. And sometimes when we have children, we're gonna teach them that GLBT population is OK, and entitled to live their lives on their own - without any interference by others. And that they are entitled to equal rights.

IMO people who deny other people happiness & personal life as those people want to live, are evil.
Either they want to prove themselves in their religious or traditional communities - and there for trying to be the most fanatic warriors. Or they are just sincerely miseductaed / brainwashed - by family, schools, religious groups etc.

I really don't understand the religious people - since all religions in essence are about love, peace & tolerance - running campaigns against "sinners" & "heretics". That's so twisted.

Regarding LGBT population: even I was a victim of miseducation in my early life - when LGBT people was presented to me via stereotypes, and in a very derogatory context. And only later in my life I realized LGBT people are just anybody else - just common people, not some maniacs & perverts. OK, of course some people / groups / lifestyles are more exotic. But there are a lot of deviations in among hetero people as well.

IMO eductaion / socialization is crucial ... either formal or informal ... at home, at school, via media, interpeer etc. Therefore advocating for minorities is always crucial ... so people can learn about differences & tolerance. About cohabitation - in general sense. Cohabitation - as an ability to live with each other in one culture / community. Regardless of differences.
