The only thing that Hinduism would argue about in Evolution is the conscious. Evolution is real but so is the Soul. In essence it's not exactly the same, but it is accepted. And also, we don't believe that the world is only 4-8thousand years old...our own civilization is older than that and the Vedas were written a good 2-3thousand years ago.

Re: Do you Believe in Life after Life?

Interesting stuff here...
I'm a bit late on the party...

I do not know exactly what to think. Did not find my way maybe...

I've read the Bible, but it did not satisfy me. And I fear it is not adapted to our time any more...

I don't think we live after the death. Death is like a sleep without dreams, there is nothing more. The end.

If you think in reincarnation,

- either a human reincarnates in another human, which means that there is almost always the same souls on earth, with few new ones...Because otherwise we would be 6000 billions of people on earth...

Or you believe there are other places where human lives, maybe hell and heaven, and earth is what then? Why aren't we all in hell or heaven? Do we have to live 6 times before going to heave? Or do we have something particular to do on earth, and we re-live till it's done, only then we go to heaven? Or is earth only the beginning of our eternal life? Why is this insignifiant and short first lige so decisive then? or maybe do we alternate, once in earth, then heel or heave, once again earth...
But it is totally useless because we are not aware of this. It could have been a way for God to make us better, everybody wanting to go to earth, so a new Golden Era or Heaven...But like that it has no sense to me.
And there is no real evolution like that, only repetition...Boring stuff.

So it does not go for me.

-Or you think we can reincarnate in everything, it means everything or almost has a soul. A stone, a flower also? Or only animals? Do you think a bird has a soul? What is the soul then? For me a human has a soul, because he is conscious. It is what made us "thinking animals". If we reincarnate in a "non-thinking" animal or vegetable, doesn't it mean we loose our soul? Or at least the major part of it? Is it real reincarnation then? How could you say that this lion is the reincarnation of someone, if this Lion is not even conscious that time is passing, and that something else exists in the world than eat, sleep and sex?
And why would one reincarnate in something, and someone else in something else? Depends on how good or bad you lived? Then it means that, for instance, a bird is a recompense and a flower is a punishment? Is there a scale, a classment of everything on earth?

Conclusion is, I don't think in reincarnation. I still am questionning myself...

I don't really think there is a God, either. I don't know exactly...It may be something superior. I think so. Something that maybe helped evolution, something that has auto-created itself...and creates some other things. Science can't explain everything. And I don't think we CAN understand everything. We are limited by our brain, unable to understand things he does not already know, and unable to understand some things like immortality, infinite...

We only know cause-consequence, so we will never know the first cause, because it has to be the consequece of something...This is why we believe(d) in God, now in science.

However, I think this superior Someone does not interest itself a lot in us...I also think we are not the only "advanced" creatures, but that it is vain to try to see water elsewhere to see it there is life.
For me life does not mean carbon and oxygen, this is OUR life. Something similar than life could happen in a different way.

This is where I am for now. Like I said, I am still questionning myself, not sure of anything, so...

Re: Do you Believe in Life after Life?

Suppose I need to put my two cents in..

Yes, I believe in Life after Life. I believe in Heaven. And Hell. Been a Christian for a little over 8 years now. My faith is important to me, it gives me security & hope. What I'm not too fond of is the institutionalized church. There's too much damnation, too many rituals & ceremonies, and not enough love - which eventually is what God is all about, in my opinion.

These religious discussions/debates are always interesting, mainly because there really are no right answers. All of us have our own right answers, but they're not necessarily someone else's right answers. And no one can force anyone else to believe anything. And yet all sorts of people have tried to do just that for centuries...

Enough, for now.

Re: Do you Believe in Life after Life?

Interesting thread. Right now I don't really believe it but if there are some evidence to prove otherwise I will be very open minded and accept it. It will be pretty cool I reckon, if I am not being condemned to hell.
