Lambo to maintain exclusivity through “controlled growth”.

Lambo to maintain exclusivity through “controlled growth”

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said the Italian brand plans to keep production low in order to maintain the marque’s exclusivity. While it could build 2,000 cars a year, it only built 1,600 in 2005, and plans to make 1,800 in 2006. He said “controlled growth” will help maintain the company’s image. “The highest value you have in the car business is the value of the brand, which is even higher than the value of the cars and products you have for the time being,” told Automotive News. The Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640 has already sold out for the year, and the regular Murcielago coupe has a one-year waiting list.

Does any one know the production figures for Ferrari? Especially the F430? It seem to be more exclusive than the Gallardo

I thought that Ferrari sold 5000 cars a year, and they won't sell anymore!

Ferrari Sees Record Sales in 2005

Date posted: 01-13-2006

MARANELLO, Italy — Ferrari sold a record number of cars — more than 5,000 — in 2005, driven by the popularity of the F430, the 612 Scaglietti and the 575 Superamerica.

The 612 Scaglietti, which made its world debut at the 2004 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and the 575 Superamerica, which was unveiled at the 2005 Detroit show, sold well. Ferrari delivered 834 Scagliettis to customers, as well as its entire production run of 559 Superamericas.

Ferrari's presence this week at the 2006 Detroit show, where it previewed the new 599GTB for journalists and showed off its limited-edition FXX and a fancy two-tone 612 Scaglietti, underscores the significance of this market. North American sales of about 1,500 units per year account for 30 percent of the company's worldwide sales volume.

But Ferrari sales are also growing rapidly in other regions, including the Middle East (up 41 percent in 2005), Central and Eastern Europe (up 92 percent), and Latin America (up 36 percent). The company also doubled its sales in China, to 82.
So basicaly about 3600 F430 cars sold in 2005, 2 as many than all Lambo sales.

82 sales in China, that's nothing!

I'm sure China will become a huge place to sell cars, bigger than Amercian, same with India!

In general, it's possible, but I wouldn't say that China will ever buy more Ferraris or Lamborghinis than a market like the US.

Considering there are 4 times as many people in both these countries, when compared to the USA, it's got to happen, it's just a question of time IMO!

Population isn't the factor here, it's rather the number of people who are rich enough to buy cars like these. I doubt the majority of people in China or India have enough money to buy a Lamborghini.

In fact, I would suspect the number of millionares in China and India is less than the number of millionares in the US.

Re: Lambo to maintain exclusivity through “controlled growth”.

That may be the case now, but in the coming decades, the situation will change!

These two countries contain a third of the worlds population! Just you wait, we'll see what will happen!

I think that China will overtake the USA one day, it has so many more people, who have the opportunity to make more money than the USA!
