Re: 2007 Toyota Corolla – Leaked Brochure pictures

About the name: It seems only the hatchback (which will be produced in the UK for the European market) will be called Auris, the sedan (produced in Turkey like the current one) will continue to be called Corolla.

No, no, no and no, about the name (what Mike said) and definitely about the look!

Sorry but you can sell cars this way. You've got to make something really good to win. The competition is really tough!

BTW, i don't like any of the new Toyotas!

Re: 2007 Toyota Corolla – Leaked Brochure pictures

This is such a boring design typical Toyota!

I sometimes wonder how Toyota sells so many cars, when they look as bad as this!

Re: 2007 Toyota Corolla – Leaked Brochure pictures

Actually, i wouldn't say that the current Corolla is a very boring car, but not an exciting one either. It is what i call just ok, so that its target group is just as big as it can get.
I could see my 25 year old friend that is sitting 2 meters away from me now in a Corolla, but i can even see my 94 years old grandfather in one. It can be bought by anyone, without any bad comments. And it IS SAID to be reliable. That's why it sells good.

As for the new one, don't ask me. It doesn't look good to me, but the people who would buy a Toyota obviously think in a different way.

PS. Those who buy Land Cruisers, think the right way. I am talking about the rest of the Toyota buyers

Re: 2007 Toyota Corolla – Leaked Brochure pictures

This will be a winnder for Toyota. Not overly daring, but clean, modern, contemporary and will last forever. And the interior...

Hmmm, VW may not have it all to its own in terms of interior quality...

Re: 2007 Toyota Corolla – Leaked Brochure pictures

I like that dash pattern. I'm sick of imitation leather patterns. Plastic should be proud of what it is; it's come so far these days.

It is a nice interior design overall. Quite coherent. Too bad about the exterior, which is really quite boring. Then again, I would argue that many who buy Toyotas aren't that concerned about the exterior looks.

Re: 2007 Toyota Corolla – Leaked Brochure pictures

That is a direct copy of VW Golf interior. Even the buttons on the Nav (btw first time that a NAV is offered in a European Corolla) are identical to VW buttons.

And then some people wonder why i have no respect for Toyota/Lexus. They are the biggest copycats in the automotive industry.

That is nowhere near a direct copy. I agree that the nav buttons look the same but how hard it is to "copy" a small square button?

Seriously man, you are getting paranoid. What next? You come here and say Toyota corp. is listening your phone at nights?

LOL Very true, ojis.

I also see some resemblance with the nav buttons but other than there's no similar details.

Re: 2007 Toyota Corolla – Leaked Brochure pictures

I see a lil' bit of the VW navi going on there, but that's probably just a matter of form following function.

Toyota knows how to bolt together an un-cheap interior, but they don't know how to detail it the way the Germans do (or even Honda, for that matter). That said - the above shot looks very impressive.

Also - about the Corolla brand. I'm convinced that the world "Corolla" has become so synonymous with "Boring, bland, vanilla" that Toyota wouldn't really suffer if they scuttled the name altogether. Seriously. Even though its a staple in their lineup, it has zero youth appeal.
