'GT500'? - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER Lest one need further corroboration, word 'round Toyota's campfire is that Lexus' compelling LF-A supercar's gestation - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER. Reportedly due by 2008, UK-based Pistonheads.com is reporting that the high-powered coupe is to be called the 'GT500,' though we're not sure how well that will sit with brand-protectionist types over at Ford. The Ferrari-chaser will most likely be motivated by a 500 bhp 5.0L V10, with the possibility of a less-expensive V8 variant ('GT450'). According to sources, Lexus' long-rumored NSX-fighter will come in between £75,000 - £100,000 ($130,000-$173,000) depending on the powertrain. The LF-A/GT500/90210 production model is slated to appear at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show (where the concept premiered last year). [Source: Pistonheads.com] |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Lexus LF-A set to be launched Pictures ![]() Lexus is near to completing development for its first ever supercar, a V10 powered coupe based on the LF-A concept. Details of the car have yet to be made available, but it is set to drive the Japanese brand into the rarefied, £100,000-plus motoring arena. “This car will not be an adaptation of anything that already exists – it will be something entirely different,” said Lexus GB director Steve Settle. “It promises to set a fresh standard in the hybrid technology to which Lexus is totally committed and we are very excited about it. But before we expand at the top end of the market, we will also be adding to the hybrid offer at the lower end of our range.” The LF-A supercar will go on sale on the Eruopean market at the end of the decade. - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER Last edited by siko; 06-13-2007 at 08:05 AM.. |

For the first time without disguise, the V10 powered Lexus LF-A prototype driving is its rounds at the Nürburgring. It’s close to the concept as we all expected, with just some minor changes. The official debut will probably be at the Car Show in Frankfurt during September. In the meantime the guys at Lexus will continue testing and fine tuning suspension and handling. With photos of the Honda NSX mule surfacing a little while ago, Lexus probably wanted to let the readers of car magazines across the globe have a glimpse of the LF-A instead of the NSX mule. The Japanese super-car war has just started, beware of the Ninjas. Worldcarfans.com |

Much as I think the LF-A is shaping up to be something extra cool, I don't think there's the installed market for a car with such questionable cache. I'm on the fence with this car.

So I suppose I've got a touch of schizophrenia. Funny you should mention the SC. I wonder what they'll do with it.
